Job Description
Opala is growing and we are seeking an Junior Cybersecurity Engineer with an insatiable curiosity and desire to grow their skills in cyber protection and remediation for a cloud-based software product. As part of a team, you will be responsible for helping secure the cloud infrastructure and code for the organization. You will be primarily responsible for monitoring the environments and assisting with identifying and remediating findings. Salary/Benefits Offered: The annual base salary range for this position in Seattle, Washington is $69,356 - $91,625. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Opala considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer. Medical, dental, vision, life and AD&D insurance, EAP, short-term and long-term disability, 16 days PTO, 8 paid holidays, fully paid holiday closure, parental and family medical leave, 401k, stock options and annual bonuses and salary increases based on merit.


Responsibilities


  • Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies related to cloud security
  • Assist in developing and maintaining organization security policies
  • Provide support for incident response and security breach investigations
  • Assist with secure software design reviews
  • Work with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and best practices
  • Implement and maintain security tools and technologies
  • Monitor and analyze logs for potential security threats and vulnerabilities
Competencies


  • Understanding of risk assessment methodologies and security standards, such as SOC2 and NIST
  • Familiarity with security tools and technologies, such as SIEM, intrusion detection and prevention systems, and data encryption
  • Knowledge of networking and security protocols, such as TCP/IP, SSL, and VPNs
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity or other related disciplines, equivalent relevant work experience, or specific training such as Hack the box, MSSA CSO or similar with experience
  • Familiarity with cloud computing platforms, such as AWS (Amazon Web Services) or Azure
  • Familiarity or skill with a programing language such as Python
  • Availability to work in the Pacific Time Zone
