Work Schedule (times and hours per week)

Monday – Friday:

Apprentice schedule:

2nd shift 5pm to 9pm (20 hours)

• During Holiday Breaks from school and summertime the apprentice may work fulltime hours.

Position Description

Lindsay Corporation has openings for a Welding Apprenticeship. Position will be located at the heart of Lindsay’s operation – the Lindsay Plant in Lindsay, NE.

• Apprentice works 20 hours, while attending school. *Holiday Breaks, Summertime you may work full time hours
• Starting wage is $19.00
• Tuition Reimbursement
• If the apprentice leaves before 2 years of employment, they will be expected to pay Lindsay back.

Position Details

Program Length:

• Diploma Hours- 970
• Certificate Hours- 520

Program Outcomes:

• Think critically, problem solve, and use creativity. Read and interpret welding drawings, and sketches.
• Work safely and independently with others
• Demonstrate welding skills and theory at entry- and advanced levels according to nationally recognized welding standards and codes.

Job Functions:

• Understands and processes work orders properly
• Maintain safety
• Inspecting equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.
• Experience in using electrical or manual tools (tape measures, saws, squares, calipers etc.)
• Measure dimensions of completed products or workpieces to verify conformance to specifications
• Must be able to lift up to 50lbs
• Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings
• Read blueprints and drawings and take or read measurements to plan layout and procedures
• Experience using a variety of welding equipment and procedures (MIG, MMA etc.)

On the Job Learning:

• Operate welding equipment
• Watch operating equipment to detect malfunctions
• Maintain safety
• Notify others of equipment repair or maintenance needs
• Measure dimensions of completed products or workpieces to verify conformance to specifications

Advancement

Post-coursework

Apprentices who complete required classroom training are eligible to receive an incremental hourly raise commensurate with skill gains.

Post-apprenticeship (2-3 years)

Promotion opportunities and full-time employment upon successful apprenticeship completion.
