Principal Field Welding Engineer Jobs

Experience at this level is typically attained with four or more years of experience in engineering, operations and/or project management

Management of third-party contract resources

AFE preparation and cost management

Experience in engineering design and knowledge of criteria for natural gas and/or NGLs in pipeline systems

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or closely related field and the following job related experience preferred

Test faulty equipment, apply knowledge of functional operation of electronic devices to diagnose the cause of malfunctions, and repair problems.

Install, repair and train customers on CNC Cutting Machine Products.

Write technical reports describing malfunctions and deviations from design specifications

Perform preventative/corrective maintenance on customer’s machines.

Make timely travel arrangements to accommodate customer’s needs.

Able to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional & technical journals, and governmental regulations.

Requirement to visit onsite fabrication facilities and offshore installation vessels and support pipeline welding procedure qualification or pipeline fabrication activities.

Review customer specifications for welding requirements.

Ensure data compiling of welding procedure qualification is accurate and correct

Work with Senior Engineer to serve as customer contact for technical issues regarding welding requirements.

Previous work experience (internship) in related field preferrable.

Excellent PC-based application skills, must be proficient in MS Word and Excel software.

Experience working as a welding engineer under a NQA-1 quality system.

American Welding Society Certified Welding Inspector Certification

One to three years of experience in a manufacturing environment

Knowledgeable of low and high-volume manufacturing methods (cycle time, quality control, efficiency, equipment selection, return on investment, etc.)

Experience using and maintaining welding equipment (hands-on welding is a plus)

Direct experience in welding/joining related manufacturing, engineering, or research and development

Research, maintain, and develop material standards as well as metal selections that meet requirements

Train and certify welders, weld/braze operators and weld/braze inspectors to AWS D17.1/AWS B2.2, and maintain current certifications and activity records

Establish, maintain, review and approve all welding procedures, PQR’s and supporting qualification documents

Degree in Welding Engineering (preferred) or Material Science with minimum 5 years of experience in welding manufacturing environment.

Demonstrate strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.

Experience in plating and metal finishing a plus.

Utilize project management skills to lead assigned projects/programs to successful completion considering technical, budgetary, manpower and schedule requirements.

Develop KPIs to effectively manage process and product outcomes.

Knowledge of gas turbine design methodologies yielding cost effective, producible design

Knowledge of gas turbine component manufacturing or repair processes

Knowledge of various measuring techniques including CMM, gages, metallurgical inspection, and analysis.

3-7 years of experience and or

Ability to proactively collect, manage and transfer knowledge

Bachelors or Masters degree in Welding Engineering, or equivalent degree with direct experience in Welding Engineering

1+ years experience in welding engineering

Expert knowledge of the subject of welding engineering as it relates to heavy manufacturing applications.

Experience with welding (manual and ideally machine welding) and Non-Destructive Examination techniques required

Experience with Nuclear Regulations, Codes & Standards preferred

Working knowledge of various ASME code fabrication requirements – Section I, Section III, Section VIII, B31.1 and B31.3

Working knowledge of heat treatment practices and requirements for various materials.

Lead development and qualification of new procedures, processes, and personnel.

Hands-on experience with GTAW, SMAW, GMAW and SAW welding processes.

PC skills including Outlook, Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint
