Job Description

Onward Search needs a full-time, direct hire Jr. UX / UI Designer (2 years of experience) for a design and strategy shop that works with everyone from startups to Fortune 500 companies, with many of them being in the health tech space.


This is a hybrid role based directly in Chicago, so you will need to live there currently and be able to commute locally for the hybrid model. Requirement on site is 2 days per week.


Salary is $75,000 - $95,000



As the Jr. UX / UI Designer you’ll:

  • Collaborate with other UX designers and other stakeholders to ensure that UI designs visually communicate UX goals
  • Participate in UX and UI design activities and contribute in IA, mapping, and wireframes, screen layouts, etc.
  • Ensure designs are aligned with industry standards, best practices, and usability research findings
  • Log and track evolving design decisions, product requirements, and design tickets



Skills & Experience Needed for the Jr. UX / UI Designer:

  • At least 2 years of applied work experience in professional UX/UI design for other clients / brands, or an agency setting
  • Experience in creating design libraries, sitemaps, task flows, low- and high-fidelity layouts and wireframes, and prototypes.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant design field
  • Helpful - Working knowledge of front-end development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
  • Helpful - Familiarity with Agile methodology and experience working in sprints
  • Skilled in XD, Sketch, InVision, Figma, Axure, and/ or other design and prototyping tools
