Jr. Data Scientist Jobs

We are seeking a motivated and analytically minded Junior Data Scientist to join our team. With a focus on data analysis and modeling, this role will support data-driven decision making for a mission critical defense program. The ideal candidate will leverage their quantitative background to extract, analyze, and interpret data from various sources, and use this information to derive actionable insights. They will be required to develop advanced statistical models, utilize machine learning techniques, and employ predictive analytics to facilitate strategic decisions. This role requires a sound understanding of statistical theories and concepts, and the ability to apply these theories to real-world problems.
The Junior Data Scientist will work closely with a team of dedicated functional professionals in a collaborative environment to create innovative, data-driven solutions. As part of this role, the candidate will be involved in all aspects of the data life cycle, from data cleaning and preprocessing, to model development and post-implementation testing.
The ideal candidate is not only adept at using statistical software and programming languages but is also curious, proactive, and can communicate complex statistical concepts to non-technical team members in a clear and comprehensible manner. Responsibilities

• Apply statistical analysis and data visualization techniques to present data and insights in a clear and compelling way.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for leveraging data to drive business/mission solutions.
• Clean, validate, and process data to ensure data integrity and reliability for analysis.
• Contribute to the development of automated predictive and prescriptive models.
• Assist in developing advanced analytics models and algorithms to extract insights from large and complex datasets.
• Monitor data science trends, technologies, and best practices for continuous learning and personal growth.

Requirements

• Familiarity with machine learning frameworks (like Keras or PyTorch) and libraries (like scikit-learn)
• Experience with graph models (centrality, betweenness, page rank, etc.) and graph database technology
• Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar is a plus
• Good problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to present complex data in a clear and simple manner
• Secret Clearance or the ability to obtain
• Experience with programming languages such as Python or R
• Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or equivalent field (from an ABET Accredited Institution)
• Knowledge of SQL and experience working with relational databases
• 1-3 years of experience in a related role involving data analysis, machine learning, or other data-driven decision making
• Familiarity with Geospatial visualization tools such as ESRi ARC GIS
• Strong understanding of statistical theory and data analysis
