It- Radiology Archive Technician

We are seeking a Radiology Archive Technician in Wausau, Wisconsin. The Radiology Archive Technician is responsible for radiographic and/or mammographic image/film management. Processes requests for film/image retrieval, maintains patient image records, loads image studies into the PACS system, assists patients with obtaining needed records for referral to outside facilities, and other duties as assigned. The Radiology Archive Technician also responsible for PACS image management and Radiology Information System (RIS) support including the maintenance of software applications, troubleshooting systems and working with IT staff to ensure efficient operation of radiology systems.
Image/Film Management

• Performs day-to-day file maintenance of PACS/RIS system including outside exam clean up, uploading CDs and utilizing cloud-based applications to move images.
• Troubleshoots, analyzes and assesses computer problems, reporting issues to informatics team.
• Verifies and moves exams through the PACS/RIS systems.
• Investigates and identifies proposals to solve specific operational problems in clinical modality areas, working closely with Radiology management and Imaging Informatics.
• Acts as a liaison between the Radiology Department and other hospital departments, Aspirus entities, non-Aspirus hospitals and clinics, and other select physician practice entities regarding computer system development and problems.

• Correlates radiographic reports with appropriate order and files into patient film jacket. Investigates situation and problem solves to ensure every order is matched with a report.
• Receives requests for information regarding mammographic films; answers routine inquiries from hospital staff, physician, and physician office staff regarding the existence and/or whereabouts of films; removes requested x-ray films as appropriate; dispatches films following established procedures; and maintains computerized log of films removed.
• Traces missing films by searching storage areas and/or contacting persons to whom films were released. Sends letters and/or places telephone calls to retrieve loaned films.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Education

• Formal typing/computer courses beneficial.
• Courses in anatomy and physiology or medical terminology necessary.
• Knowledge of office procedures in a healthcare environment and radiology standards and procedures normally acquired through graduation from High School diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
