The role of the radiology assistant is to coordinate and prepare all patient exams and activities in the Radiology department in a manner that is commensurate with the mission, vision, and values of the Medical Center. Performs under the supervision of the CT supervisor. Ensures safety and care of patients in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Determine appropriateness of examinations and contact physicians to clarify or modify orders when necessary
- Transport patients through the ER to the CT Scanner and/or radiology department
- Answers telephones in a timely manner
- Update technologists with appointment status (cancellations, changes, etc).
- For outpatients, check prescriptions to ensure patient demographics are correct, physician signature present, and reason for exam listed
- Communicates with professionalism at all times
- Assist in procedure rooms
- For inpatients, check requistions for accuracy, including verify patient identification, physician's signature, and diagnosis.
- Transfer patients on/off exam tables
- Arrange transport
Requirements:
- Excellent communication skills; computer skills also required
- Prior hospital experience preferred
- High school diploma or equivalent
