It Intern - Cloud Platform Engineering

The Enterprise Technical Services Team provides day-to-day support and maintenance of cloud and data center operations used by Weyerhaeuser customers. Repeatable services are designed and built to reduce costs and cycle times, eliminate failures, and improve customer satisfaction. Services can be delivered as a packaged solution or tailored to meet specific requirements and can be provided from a Montana or Seattle location, a Line of Business site or a combination of both. Examples of services we provide include, cloud administration, Linux management, Data Center Infrastructure Management, Enterprise IT Systems and Applications, Active Directory Management, Asset Management, Patch Management, Backup and Recovery, Disaster Recovery, Virtual Farm Management, Server and Storage Management.

Intern is responsible for assisting the team with configuring, updating and documenting systems related to the following integration activities: Cloud Software Development (server and serverless), Cloud-to-Cloud DR, On-Prem to Cloud Migration, Cloud Backup Assessment, and Cloud User Enablement.

During this internship, the Intern will gain experience with both AWS and Azure clouds, serverless programming, client driven development, cloud system administration, cloud resource provisioning/orchestration and building a deployment pipeline.

This duration of this internship is approximately 6 months beginning July 2023.

Key Functions:

• Commit code for projects (.net, Java, Python)
• Azure DevOps Pipelines
• Desired State Configuration and tools (Ansible)
• Build new IaaS, PaaS and cloud native systems
• Infrastructure as Code (Terraform)
• Assist with efforts to resolve customer cloud related incident tickets
• With existing team members, assess, test, and implement new Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure delivery and support models

Requirements:

• Scripting and programming experience: PowerShell, Node.JS, Python, C#, JavaScript, APIs
• Desired candidates will be currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program related to Computer Science, Information Systems or other related field of study.
• Desired candidates have a minimum of a junior standing by July 2023, but not yet graduated.
• Familiarity and/or interest with Linux, Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Windows and Server, VMWare, Active Directory
• Knowledge and interest in cloud, hardware, and software (AWS and Azure IaaS, Virtualization, Backup/Recovery, Disaster Recovery, and Data Center Operations).
• Technical knowledge and skills from education or experience (Computer classes or hands on)

This position will have flexibility to report out of Weyerhaeuser’s Seattle Headquarters or work remotely provided you are currently based (or are planning to move to) one of the following states Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Louisiana, Maine, Michigan, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia. This role is not open to those who live in other states or countries. This role will be expected to work general PST hours.

Compensation: The pay rate for this position is $24 per hour.
