IT Architecture Manager Salary: $110,901 - $138,626.50 (dependent upon knowledge, skills, and ability)
Position Primary Purpose:

Manages and facilitates a comprehensive IT Architecture practice and center of excellence based on business requirements, IT non-functional requirements, technical standards, security standards, project requests and the overall Credit Union's strategic plan.

Responsibilities:

  • Develops Information Technology Architectural guiding principles in conjunction with management and ensures the organization is informed of and practices these principles.
  • Prepares network, system, data flow, functional flow, and platform topology diagrams representing solutions architectures that can be reviewed as part of the project and modified into an as-built or KB/Concept article.
  • Responsible for key technology product and solution selection.
  • Manages the architecture team and promotes IT/business architectural process best practices including reliability, resiliency, compatibility, value and utility.
  • Utilizes objective processes to select technologies and solutions based on functional and non-functional business requirements.
  • Ensures the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the data residing on or transmitted through enterprise workstations, servers, databases, cloud systems, third party providers, vendor partners and any computer/electronic systems that process or house credit union member or banking data.
  • Considers, documents, and designs solution architectures with respect to all potential failure scenarios and technology risks.
  • Keeps informed of industry best practices and products for information systems and proposes changes for efficiency and security.
  • Evaluates solutions for consistency with the IT vision, high availability, fault tolerance, disaster recovery, business continuity, performance characteristics, supportability, longevity and security.
  • All other duties as assigned.
  • Applies TOGAF best practices to evaluate and design technologies and solutions for fitness of purpose in the information technology environment.
  • Responsible for designing application, cloud (SaaS/Paas/IaaS), hybrid cloud (pubic/private), network, security, API, and financial technology architectures.
  • Creates detailed implementation plans in conjunction with IT and the Project Management organization. Ensures the implementation of solutions adheres to design.
  • Provides overall guidance to all technology groups involved on the extent, impact and scope of their requirements.
  • Maintains architectural roadmap for digital technology solutions.
  • Reviews all technology projects to define appropriate resources necessary to successfully complete the business goal.
  • Communicates architectural best practices to the organization and serves as a technology leader.
  • Participates in the project process ensuring the feasibility of project success by providing detailed tasks with durations to the project management office.
  • Works closely with internal business stakeholders and Information Technology to understand system requirements.
  • Prepares information on the systems, data and usage goals to Information Security for review. Works in conjunction with Information Security to design highly secure solutions.
  • Consults with management on Enterprise Architectural challenges, roadmaps, and strategic plan.
  • Creates detailed documentation, requirements, and planning resources supporting design and selection of technology solutions.

Minimum Requirements:


Seven (7) years of direct experience with server infrastructures, networking/routing, programming, information security, cloud technologies and all things IT are required. Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related curriculum. Basic levels of certification in networking, systems administration, information security, programming, and other IT disciplines.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's in Computer Science or other STEM disciplines preferred. Advanced levels of certification in networking, systems administration, information security, programming, and other IT disciplines a plus. Certification can be used in lieu of experience or education. TOGAF certification.

Demonstrated Abilities:

  • Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions and approaches to problems with successful outcomes.
  • Understanding the technical foundation for general data processing and Networks
  • Understanding the foundation and principles of information and systems security
  • Deep Knowledge of firewalls, virtual environments, development methodologies, cloud computing, current networking protocols, information security, IT best practices and standards.
  • Knowledge of IT practices, processing systems including software, hardware, and cloud infrastructure.
  • Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions in alignment with credit union technology strategy.
  • Actively learning by understanding the implications of new and existing information for current and future problem solving and decision-making.
  • Ability to break down complex problems into smaller, simpler solutions.

Benefits & Other Compensation:

Employees (and their eligible family members) are eligible to enroll in a generous benefits package including health, vision, dental, life and AD&D insurance. Employees will also receive company provided life, AD&D, and long-term disability coverage and after 60 days may participate in the company's 401(k) retirement plan where the company matches an employee's contributions at 150%, up to 5%, after one year of service. Additionally, employees will receive up to 11 paid holidays throughout the calendar year, a minimum of 12 days of paid time off (PTO) each calendar year, and 13 weeks of paid leave used when on an approved state or federal protected leave or in compliance with company policy.


The hired applicant will also be eligible for role specific variable compensation in accordance with the established plan documents.
