Investing | Director Strategy & Research

Responsible for identifying, researching, and validating investment theses for new Kanbrick platforms. Lead research process for new platform investments and support strategy and acquisitions at Kanbrick companies; creatively and resourcefully gather unique primary source information and data from uncommon places; reason from first principles and not rely on others’ assumptions, maintaining independence of thought and intellectual honesty; maintain deep intellectual curiosity about nuanced market structures and value chains inherent to mid-sized businesses.

Outcomes:

• Monitor changes and update market maps over time
• Value chain: map out value chain and where profit pools and how they’ve changed over time
• Generate new investment ideas in partnership with broader Kanbrick team
• Lead thematic deep dives to validate theses with a focus on building a deep understanding of the market, growth drivers, value chain, competitive landscape, and potential investment opportunities
• Develop world class research capabilities and system at Kanbrick
• Market and drivers: size market bottoms up and evaluate growth trends and drivers
• Competitive landscape: exhaustively map out competitors, with market shares, and how they’ve changed over time
• Support acquisition process at Kanbrick companies by building market maps, identifying attractive investment opportunities, and sharing with key stakeholders
• Company identification: identify companies and executives for potential investments
