Job Description
Overview:
Receive, store, and issue materials, equipment, and other items from stockroom, warehouse, or storage yard. Keep records and compile stock reports. Maintains control of all inventory items purchased and produced. Monitors inventory levels to determine level of safety stock and provides notification to supervisor or manager. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. Responsible for the following duties and other duties as assigned
Major Position Responsibilities:
  • Compiles inventory information such as consumption rate, characteristics, value, and stock on hand to determine stock supply and need for replenishment
  • Keep records on the use and/or damage of stock or stock handling equipment
  • Receive and count stock items, and record data manually or using computer
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Pack and unpack items to be stocked on shelves in stockrooms, warehouses, or storage yards.
  • Clean and maintain supplies, tools, equipment, and storage areas in order to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Examine and inspect stock items for wear or defects, reporting any damage to supervisors
  • Store items in an orderly and accessible manner in warehouses, tool rooms, supply rooms, or other areas
  • Determine proper storage methods, identification, and stock location based on turnover, environmental factors, and physical capabilities of facilities
  • Mark stock items using identification tags, stamps, electric marking tools, or other labeling equipment.
  • Verify inventory computations by comparing them to physical counts of stock, and investigate discrepancies or adjust errors.
  • Provide assistance or direction to other stockroom, warehouse, or storage yard workers
Basic Qualifications:
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Mathematical skills ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers.
  • Judgment and Decision Making Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.
  • Speaking talking to others to convey information effectively
  • High School/GED and 1-2 years related experience and /or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Critical thinking Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems
