Summary
Compiles and tracks records concerned with receiving, storing, and disposal of waste as well as for the purpose of reporting to Federal, State, and Local agencies, and issuing the appropriate authorization to facility personnel regarding the selection and movement of waste/packages for handling or disposal. This position reports directly to the Director of Technical Services. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may receive occupational exposures to ionizing radiation that are As Low As is Reasonably Achievable (ALARA) and within regulatory limits.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be
assigned.
- Performs data entry for RWO/NRWOs process in Elite.
- Tracks waste to ensure waste processing within a timely manner.
- Compiles stock control records and information such as consumption rate, characteristics of items in storage, to determine stock supply and need for replenishment.
- Assists the Project Coordinator in the development of sampling and processing work orders.
- Manages waste inventory, ensures compliance with storage time limits and volume requirements.
- Compares nomenclature, stock numbers, authorized substitutes, and other listed information with catalogs, manuals, parts lists, and similar references to verify accuracy of requisitions and shipping orders.
- Performs data entry in current database inventory control system for inventory monitoring.
- Reports weekly and monthly treatment statistics to operations.
- Keeps back-order file in established sequence and releases back orders for issue or shipment as stock becomes available.
- Work with Director of Technical Services to order and receive any necessary supplies for the effective planning and execution of scheduled and unscheduled work and verify that required supplies are available when needed.
- Develops site operating schedules by coordinating with the site Project Managers, Project Coordinators, and Operation personnel.
- Apply and reinforce the skills learned through human performance training to prevent personal errors and errors by other team members.
- Prepares daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly license reports, status reports, and other related reports as required.
- Prepares requisitions, orders, or other documents for purchasing or requisitioning new or additional stock items.
- Reviews files to determine unused items and recommends disposal of excess stock.
- Verifies compliance of Certificates of Treatment (COT) and Landfill Disposal Restrictions (LDR).
- Compiles data from sources such as contracts, purchase orders, invoices, requisitions, and accounting report and writes, types, or enters information into computer to maintain inventory, purchasing, shipping or other records.

Education and/or Experience
- High School diploma or general education degree (GED). Strong time management and organizational skills, strong oral and written communication and strong attention to detail are required.
- Knowledge regarding radioactive/hazardous waste management tracking software to assist in waste inventory controls and reporting. Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Strong human relations skills in communications and personnel management through continuous interaction with supervisory and hourly personnel. Familiarity with Elite and iMaint systems and ability to navigate software in a timely manner is desired.
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software; Inventory software; Project Management software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
Other Skills and Abilities
Demonstrated ability or organize and assist in organizing the WCS workload; must have demonstrated knowledge and basic understanding of contracts, contractual deliverables, waste manifests, DOT and EPA regulations regarding the shipment of wastes; must have demonstrated understanding of and ability to use Microsoft Word and Excel.

The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
