The 31st District Juvenile Court Service Unit (JCSU) team has a rare and exceptional opportunity in the Intensive Supervised Probation Unit to increase community safety while assisting youth build a foundation for a better future. Intensive Juvenile Probation (ISP) provides increased community safety and lowers a client's risk to re-offend through community based intensive probation supervision and accountability. We have the chance to protect and guide adolescents, while helping them to discover the community they have around them. Through coordinating communication among families, schools, and other important resources, we assist them in changing their behavior so as not to re-enter the court system.

ABOUT THIS ROLE:
This position encompasses evaluating, understanding, modifying and reducing delinquent behavior while meeting the many needs of youth and their families via an evidence based approach to supervision and intervention.
ISP provides for increased supervision and competency development of youth at higher risk to offend. This position will have the support of an experienced and dedicated team.
The ideal candidate will be able to provide enhanced face to face supervision to high risk youth, while documenting and developing interventions and strategies with the youth and their family, by providing an enhanced level of supervision in the community and meeting the requirements of the Orders of the Juvenile Court. This intervention is conducted principally in the community and requires the ability to network and collaborate with numerous community-based services and providers.
MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma or G.E.D. and 5 years of related (experience working with delinquent adolescents or in an intake capacity in the juvenile justice field in the Commonwealth of Virginia) experience.

- Case planning
- Previous Juvenile Probation Officer in Prince William County or the Commonwealth of Virginia
- Bachelor's Degree in psychology, criminal justice, social work, sociology or related field
- Experience with risk assessment instruments, to include BADGE, YASI (pre and full screen), Probation Supervision Case Planning and EPICS
- 5 years of related current or prior experience working with delinquent adolescents or in an intake capacity in the juvenile justice field in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
- Previous Juvenile Justice Probation caseload management experience
- Familiarity with the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia as applied to juveniles
- Evidenced based practices
- Bi-lingual English-Spanish speaker
SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to work flexible non-traditional hours as needed. This position has a highly flexible 37.5 hour weekly work schedule and teleworking is an option for administrative duties.
STARTING SALARY RANGE:
$62,613.00 - $92,293.00
A pre-employment physical is not required for this position.
