The Oregon Youth Authority (OYA) is seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Juvenile Parole & Probation Assistant. As an assistant in this role, you will play a crucial part in providing transportation and case management support to Juvenile Parole/Probation Officers (JPPOs) who are responsible for delivering essential case management services to youth committed to OYA. Your primary responsibilities will involve direct, personal engagement with youth in custody, their families, and staff members from OYA and other agencies.

What We Are Looking For:
  • Eighteen months experience in a social service, rehabilitative, or correctional program with primary responsibility for guiding individuals or groups in the solution of occupational, educational, personal or social problems; OR
  • An Associates Degree in Criminal Science, Criminal Justice, the Behavioral Sciences, Human Services or a related field

Special Qualifications:
  • Driver’s License: Driving/travel is an essential function of the position. You must possess a valid Oregon Driver's License and acceptable driving record.
The ideal candidate will possess the following desired skills and attributes:
  • Possession of exceptional prioritization skills and be adaptable to emerging issues.
  • Experience working both independently and collaboratively within a team, contributing to a positive and cohesive team dynamic.
  • The ability to self-motivate and work effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders, each with their own perspectives and interests, is highly valued.
  • Experience with applying and removing physical restraints.
  • Experience transporting youth or other clientele with a secure or non-secure vehicle.
  • Working experience that exhibits a high standard of professionalism, ethics, and integrity.
  • Organization skills to complete work in a timely manner to include moving between several complex issues throughout the day.
  • Skilled at developing positive and collaborative working relationships with coworkers, lead workers, and managers is essential.

All OYA employees are required to submit to a two-step TB test to establish a TB free "base line."
