Position Overview

This entry level position will provide support to outside sales reps by building rapport and maintaining customer relationships, following through on customer POs, and ensuring inventory is stocked as required, including purchasing as the first function. The sales desk receives inbound customer orders but also grows the business by actively upselling and promoting.


Responsibilities

  • Deliver exceptional customer service
  • Understand each customer's needs to provide real, effective solutions
  • Purchasing and inventory management
  • Actively sell and service existing accounts via phone and email
  • Provide customers with professional recommendations on options as well as pricing and availability data to meet customers' needs
  • Work in conjunction with operations to ensure efficient use of assets, while delivering a premium customer service experience
  • Prospect and develop new, exciting business relationships
  • Work to continually advance self knowledge of products
  • Professionally quote rates
  • Process orders in a timely manner
  • Work for and with outside sales staff
  • Assist with the management and maintenance of appropriate stock levels for the area programs
  • Learn about and promote new product lines.


Qualifications

  • Strong follow up skills
  • Comfort utilizing social media for business applications a plus
  • Desire to work in a customer-centric sales role, excellent customer service skills and ability to upsell
  • Building materials industry experience a plus
  • Sense of urgency, ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to multi-task
  • Excellent communicator, good phone manner and email skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Positive can-do attitude
  • Positive, proactive, and energetic attitude
  • Some experience in quoting, purchasing and inventory management
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • Problem solver, takes initiative, makes decision
  • Detailed/organized
  • Experience supporting outside sales team
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus
  • High school diploma
  • Ability to work well independently as well as being comfortable working with staff at all levels in the organization with different personalities
  • Good math competency. Proficient with computers (word, excel, CRM)
