Job Description

Clark College is currently accepting applications for the position of IT Security – Journey to join the Information Technology department. This is a full-time permanent classified position.
The IT Security Analyst performs two core functions for the enterprise. The first is the day-to-day operations of the in-place security solutions while the second is the identification, investigation and resolution of security breaches detected by those systems. Secondary tasks may include involvement in the implementation of new security solutions, participation in the creation and/or maintenance of policies, standards, baselines, guidelines and procedures as well as conducting vulnerability audits and assessments. The IT Security Analyst is expected to be fully aware of the enterprise’s security goals as established by its stated policies, procedures and guidelines and to actively work towards upholding those goals.

Position Responsibilities
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
Strategy & Planning
  • Maintain compliance with State and Federal requirements such as: HIPPA, FERPA, GLBA, PCI, and WA State OCIO policies.
  • Participate in the planning and design of an enterprise Business Continuity Plan and Disaster Recovery Plan, under the direction of the IT Security Manager/CISO, where appropriate.
  • Participate in the creation of enterprise security documents (policies, standards, baselines, guidelines and procedures) under the direction of the IT Security Manager/CISO, where appropriate.
  • Participate in the planning and design of enterprise security architecture, under the direction of the IT Security Manager/CISO, where appropriate.

Acquisition & Deployment
  • Recommend additional security solutions or enhancements to improve overall enterprise security.
  • Maintain up-to-date detailed knowledge of the IT security industry including awareness of new or revised security solutions, improved security processes and the development of new attacks and threat vectors.
  • Perform the deployment, integration and initial configuration of all new security solutions and of any enhancements to existing security solutions in accordance with standard best operating procedures generically and the enterprise’s security documents specifically.

Operational Management
  • Review logs and reports of all in-place devices, whether they be under direct control (i.e., security tools) or not (i.e., workstations, servers, network devices, etc.). Interpret the implications of that activity and devise plans for appropriate resolution.
  • Provide on-call support for end users for all in-place security solutions.
  • Participate in the design and execution of vulnerability assessments, penetration tests and security audits.
  • Participate in investigations into problematic activity.
  • Maintain up-to-date baselines for the secure configuration and operations of all in-place devices, whether they be under direct control (i.e., security tools) or not (i.e., workstations, servers, network devices, etc.).
  • Monitor all in-place security solutions for efficient and appropriate operations.
  • Maintain operational configurations of all in-place security solutions as per the established baselines.
Qualifications

POSITION REQUIREMENTS AND COMPETENCIES:
Candidates will be evaluated based on application materials, including the supplemental questions and personal interview(s), and will be required to demonstrate competencies in the following areas:

  • Must have hands- on experience in working with enterprise infrastructure in relation to Cyber Security.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science AND two (2) years of work experience in a related field or equivalent.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • One or more of the following certifications or completion in-progress: CISSP, GIAC,CEH,CISM
  • Ability to work well with people of all ages from academically, culturally, and socioeconomically diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Must have System Administrator and/or Network System Administrator experience
  • Vaccination requirement: Per Washington State Proclamation 21-14.1: college employees must be fully vaccinated. JOB READINESS/WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • The initial appointment will include a 6-month probationary period and the employee will earn permanent status after successfully completing probation.

Supplemental Information

SALARY/BENEFITS:
Salary Range: $6,354-$8,545/month | Step A-M (commensurate with qualifications and experience) | Range:05IT | Code: 483S
Successful candidates typically start at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases.
