Position Description & Requirements:

Experience and Education Requirements

➢ 7+ Years with Bachelor of Science (BSc) or equivalent

➢ 5+ Years with Master of Science (MSc) or equivalent

➢ 3+ Years with Doctorate (DSc, EngD, PhD)

Duties and Responsibilities

➢ Monitor organization’s networks for security breaches and investigate all occurrences.

➢ Use and maintain software, such as firewalls and data encryption programs, to protect sensitive information.

➢ Conduct vulnerability scans and remediate vulnerabilities in computer systems and networks.

➢ Research the latest information technology security trends, attack vectors, and security safeguards.

➢ Prepare reports documenting general metrics, attempted attacks, and security breaches.

➢ Develop security standards and best practices to optimize information security.

➢ Analyze systems requirements and recommend IT security and data privacy requirements.

➢ Serve as Information Assurance Officer (IAO) or Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) for assigned

applications.

➢ Create and annually assess the organization’s disaster recovery (DR) plan.

➢ Conduct monthly system scans and create and execute Plans of Actions and Milestones (PoA&Ms) in support

of certification and accreditation (C&A).

➢ Monitor and restrict access to sensitive, confidential, and other high-security data.

➢ Perform risk assessments, audits, and tests to ensure proper functioning of data processing activities and

security measures.

➢ Develop and implement plans to safeguard digital data from accidental or unauthorized modification,

destruction, or disclosure.

➢ Train stakeholders in the installation and use of new security products.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

➢ Excellent verbal and written communication skills

➢ Advanced research and analytical skills

➢ Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel

➢ In-depth knowledge of computer-related security systems (e.g., firewalls, encryption, password protection,

and authentication)

➢ 3+ years prior experience as a systems engineer or network administrator

➢ Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or Global Security Essentials Certification (GSEC)

accreditation

➢ Knowledge of application lifecycle management (ALM), agile methodologies (Scrum, SAFe), and supporting

tools (e.g., Jira, Advanced Roadmaps)

➢ Ability to obtain a Moderate Risk Background Investigation (MBI) clearance

➢ U.S. citizenship or 3+ years of residency as a Lawful Permanent Resident (LPR) in the U.S.

Preferred Qualifications

➢ Active IRS Moderate Risk Background Investigation (MBI) clearance

➢ Certified Information Systems Auditor/Manager (CISA/CISM) certification

➢ Ability to support multiple concurrent projects and deliver on schedule

➢ Advanced proficiency in a broad array of security software applications and tools

➢ Excellent time management and organizational skills

➢ Ability to adapt to changes in project scope, requirements, and priorities
