The HR Generalist will assist with Human Resource responsibilities and activities related to the staffing and onboarding processes, employee relations, compliance, and admin.


Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute company human resource programs.
  • Assist with additional office duties as needed.
  • Conducts or acquires background checks and employment eligibility verifications.
  • Implements new hire orientation and employee recognition programs.
  • Processes employee termination paperwork, including performing exit interviews.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; ensures completion of I9s for all new hires; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintains the employee handbook and company policies and updates with pertinent information as needed.
  • Maintains benefits brochure, works with the company leadership and benefits providers/administrators to select benefits plans and set up annual enrollment, assists with employee benefits selections, and resolves any enrollment issues.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  • Maintains personnel files and employee records in compliance with applicable legal requirements and processes employee status changes in a timely manner.
  • Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and aptitude exams and certifications.
  • Assists with the onboarding process by coordinating start dates of new hires, providing benefits information, and assisting with the completion of all employee paperwork (payroll, benefits selections, etc.)


Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR-related field.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Detail-oriented as well as excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working within the government contracting industry.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • 1-2 years of experience working in an HRIS like ADP.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
