Tetra Tech is currently seeking a full-time Human Resources Generalist to support the TDR Operation. This individual works under the general supervision of the Human Resources Manager. The TDR Business Unit is dedicated to helping our clients with a broad range of capabilities in disaster response programs, federal grant management, environmental services, and engineering to navigate the path to community resilience and sustainability.

The responsibilities of the Human Resources Generalist include but not limited to the following:

  • Assist or prepare correspondence as requested (i.e., subpoenas & other legal matters).
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Creates and processes all layoff documents and coordinates with Corporate Payroll.
  • Provides employee data and special requests to staff and Corporate as needed; provide Oracle/Tetra Linx reports as requested (i.e. anniversaries, demographics, date reviews, milestones, etc.)
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
  • Processes and reviews all employee changes in HRIS system (status changes, supervisor changes, terminations, self-service changes, etc.).
  • Addresses employee inquiries regarding benefits, 401(k) Retirement Plan, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, personnel policies and other HR related issues.
  • Serve as English/Spanish translator when needed to support HR, Payroll, and Safety.
  • Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory training. This may include ethics training, anti-harassment training, work place harassment training, etc.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Ability to maintain objectivity when dealing with sensitive personnel issues and problematic situations.
  • Knowledge of Puerto Rico laws and regulations is a plus.
  • Proficient in communicating clearly and effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Professional Human Resources (PHR) Certification from HRCI or SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) is preferred.
  • Proven ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment and maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Understands priorities and meets all required deadlines in a timely fashion.
  • Must be able to work with a wide variety of personalities.
  • Experience with Oracle ERP & Taleo Applicant Tracking System (ATS) are a plus.
  • 6 + years of progressive experience in Human Resources.
  • Must possess proactive, positive problem-solving skills and be an energetic and enthusiastic collaborative team player.
  • Knowledge of California laws and regulations is a plus.
  • Proficient computer skills are required (MS Office Suite)
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish is highly desired.
  • Ability to achieve desired results through the use of all available facilities and resources; takes ownership of and carries out established tasks without prompting.
  • High level of reliability, follow-through, discretion and integrity.
  • Working knowledge and experience in multiple HR functions and procedures (pay and benefits, compensation, labor law and employment best practices, HR systems, training, performance management, employee relations, change management).
  • Able to excel within a fast-paced environment and sometimes intense work environment
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills with the ability to act independently and exercise sound judgment.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Human Resource Management or related field.
  • Works well with others and actively contributes to the success of the HR team, seeks guidance when needed.
