Skin Laundry is currently looking for a Business Partner, People Team.


How Do You Fit In?


We are seeking a manager-level Business Partner to join the Skin Laundry team. In this newly created role, you will be the primary Business Partner to our Field team in the USA, in California and New York.


In this role you are part of the Leadership Team of our global People function and an extension of the management team for the filed you support. This role is a partner to Executives as well as employees and first-time managers, as a strategist, coach, accountable implementer, and innovator.


The right hire is deeply experienced in collaborating with management to develop and implement team-specific talent strategies, is skilled in building trust and relationships at all levels and bringing insights about the business and human needs to program design so we are solving the right issues.


What you'll be responsible for:


This role is responsible for understanding the strategic and operational roadmaps for business your clients are building. The role is responsible for both (1) surfacing and addressing client specific needs and (2) bringing the intended impact of our global programs to life within each clinic, and (3) helping to create a world class People Team.


The right hire is highly consultative and collaborative while also willing to be decisive, quickly establish credibility, and applies great interpersonal instincts to ensure influence. The right person will have proven abilities in leading large-scale growth and change, coaching and developing leaders and employees (at all levels), designing and facilitating team health initiatives, and bring a keen analytical mind to talent strategy.

  • Hiring & Onboarding: Assist with the hiring & onboarding process, including coaching managers on how to shape job descriptions, how to interview for fit and how to onboard to ensure fast acclimation to our culture
  • Feedback & Reporting: Track and monitor the effectiveness of our people practices and programs. Ensure that our systems work, our People Team is operating effectively, and that we are delivering great service to the business. Create mechanisms for team members to give feedback and ideas that will make the Skin Laundry experience even better.
  • Workforce Analytics and Technology: Tracks key metrics to assess and diagnose the health of the organization. Consults on organizational effectiveness metrics (e.g., span-of-control, layers) and applies knowledge of People Team metrics appropriately to influence business decisions. Brings an analytical and strategic lens to all areas of HR and can modulate communication to resonate with varying populations.
  • Change Management: Coach team leaders on effective change management, including organizational design and change, enterprise-wide transformation, cultural evolution during hyper-growth, and new leader assimilation. Help others clarify and explain connections between changes in the business, the organization, and individual roles/contribution needed. Supports teams on change strategies and communications and post-implementation assessment.
  • Talent and Workforce Planning Solutions: Strategic thinker who approaches Talent disciplines holistically (Business Need, Workforce Planning, Talent Management, Talent Acquisition, Talent Development, Talent Engagement, Rewards), and works effectively with executives, managers, and People Team partners to ensure these functions deliver what the business needs. Provides consultation on retention, development and engagement strategies for key positions, guides succession planning, and helps ensure talent acquisition needs are met. Facilitates clarity about skill gaps, participates in selection of internal and external talent, takes a long-term view. Partners with leaders to anticipate hiring needs and prepare updated workforce plans and forecasts to inform decisions.
  • Culture and Employee Experience: Applies diagnostics to discern how best to foster a healthy, cohesive, collaborative, fun and fair workplace. Is responsible for all ER-related issues in assigned client groups. Works with managers, employees, and appropriate others to respond to all ER issues in ways consistent with Skin Laundry's values and standards. Works closely with management and relevant leaders across the People Team to ensure employees' clarity about Skin Laundry's business vision and helps to build a culture of passion for that greater mission. Is an advocate and model of healthy debate, direct communication, and low ego.
  • Performance, Recognition and Rewards: Works with managers and employees to educate about and fulfill their roles in achieving a culture of high-performance, recognition and aligned rewards. Is accountable for the successful implementation of the annual performance and compensation processes across assigned clinics. Understands business unit budgets and demonstrates good judgment about when to push back or advocate out-of-guideline recommendations.
  • Clinic Partner: Facilitate information flow and clarity – between the field and HQ. Be a resource for questions and feedback on topics such as career development, compensation, benefits administration, employee accommodations and status changes (including leaves, transfers, and exits) so employees are clear about our programs, philosophy and resources.
  • HR Strategy & Leadership: Work with senior leaders to define and support the overall talent strategy regarding capabilities requirements to deliver business goals, gap analysis and remediation alternatives, and approaches to people processes necessary to serve as the primary HR (People Team) Partner to the US field.

  • Start-up speed and mentality – flexible, and can appreciate the unexpected without judgment, works/thinks at breakneck speed
  • Industry - Retail center experience – a plus
  • Assertive and non-political – enjoys and contributes direct communication, takes initiative fueled by driving the right results
  • Humility – a continuous learner interested in growing personally and professionally via career, doesn't need to be right 100%
  • Highly skilled influencer – experienced in navigating Executive Leadership and building strong partnerships with peers
  • Minimum experience – 5 years of Field Business Partnership in Human Resources or Talent Development
  • Has humor and humanity – is self-aware, empathetic, can be vulnerable, builds real relationships, willing to laugh at self, fun
