Job Description
Burial Beer Co is looking for an ambitious HR Assistant to join our Human Resources team. The Human Resource Assistant will perform administrative tasks and services to support effective and efficient operations of the organization's human resource department.

The Job


The ideal candidate will have an interest in HR, employee relations, and will be confident in their ability to provide administrative support of day to day operations within the HR department. The HR team interacts with each employee at Burial, therefore, must be able to effectively communicate with individuals at all professional levels in a clear and concise manner.


What You'll Do


Talent Management


  • Preparing for and participating in hiring events and job fairs in collaboration with the Director of HR and HR Manager
  • Assists with the preparation and accountability of the performance review process (i.e. 90 day reviews and bi-annual reviews)
  • Assists with mandatory certification and training process and tracking for staff
  • Assist in the execution of the talent acquisition process


Total Rewards


  • Ensure all administrative related payroll information is entered and ready for the HR Manager to move forward with payroll processing (i.e. reimbursements to the company, per diems, mileage reimbursements, bonus, etc.)
  • Execution of employee appreciation program's Pantry Initiative communications and ordering for each department
  • Regular maintenance for Employee Volunteer hours tracking


Administrative


  • Check for weekly unemployment claims and complete any necessary forms with the support of the HR Manager
  • Perform HR file audits quarterly to ensure that all required documents are collected and are maintained in employee files
  • Produce and submit reports on general HR activity as needed
  • Facilitate general office management including but not limited to cleaning schedules, conference room sign ups, inventory and ordering of supplies, and general upkeep
  • Assists or prepares correspondence as requested.
  • Help maintain organized HR personnel files by ensuring all employee personnel documentation is up to date (i.e. Tip Credit Notices, Employee Handbook Acknowledgement, I-9's, etc.)
  • Support other functions as assigned including but not limited to: 30 day new hire check-in's, holiday reminders, payroll deadline reminders, employee boot-stipend tracking and vouchers
  • Execute monthly reporting on HR metrics
  • Assist HR Manager in maintaining up-to-date tasks in the company communication platform
  • Maintaining internal records, which may include preparing, issuing and filing company documentation (e.g. FMLA, parental leave, etc.).


Information + Technology Management


  • Assists with acquisition of data reports, summaries, and logs requested by the Director of HR or HR Manager
  • Assists with company wide and HR specific software maintenance by updating and maintaining permissions, access, personalization, and similar system operations and settings.
  • Maintains system compliance with data security and privacy requirements.
  • Provides technical support and troubleshooting to employees when needed.
  • Performs other duties as required.


Employee Engagement


  • Track employee anniversaries and birthdays throughout the year
  • Assist in timely execution of monthly company newsletters in collaboration with the HR Manager
  • Assist in ad-hoc projects as requested by the Director of HR (i.e. collection of employee feedback)

  • Must be adaptable to shifting priorities
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn payroll practices, human resource information system (HRIS), and other similar computer applications.
  • Proficient with Google Suite or related software.
  • Basic knowledge of labor law and employment equity regulations is a plus
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
  • At least 2 years prior related office/administrative experience is preferred
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Compensation: $45,000
