THE OPPORTUNITY

YES Prep needs a dynamic Head of Schools with a diverse set of experiences, to make our mission a reality. As a YES Prep employee, you will achieve jaw-dropping results, create pathways to opportunity for our students, build transformative relationships, and eliminate educational inequities to advance social justice.

To put it simply, you will play an integral role in providing the coaching and development that Principals need to achieve campus goals and ensure excellent student outcomes.


THE ROLE
When you join the YES Prep team, some of the exciting work and responsibilities will include:
  • Leading and collaborating with system leaders in ongoing equity work to ensure all children have access to unlimited life opportunities;
  • Working with Principals and campus leadership teams to create goals and metrics that are ambitious and aligned with YES Prep vision and organizational direction;
  • Collaborating with system leaders to assist in aligning campus and Home Office functions essential to the success of the organization, including sitting on working groups, attending cross-functional meetings, reviewing guidelines to provide input, etc.;
  • Planning, leading, and facilitating Principal meetings focused on professional development, collaboration, and communication of information essential to effective alignment at all YES Prep schools;
  • Additional duties as assigned.
  • Assisting with hiring and onboarding new Resident Principals and Principals to ensure the best people are in position to lead each YES Prep school;
  • Spending significant time on campuses observing classroom instruction and campus culture to inform Principals and campus leadership teams of opportunities to improve student achievement and school culture;
  • Ensuring compliance, alignment, and execution of key requirements for schools based on state and federal guidelines;
  • Managing, developing, and leading Principals towards exceptional outcomes for students, families, and staff that results in breakthrough student achievement results and talent retention;
  • Participating on a team with Heads of Schools and system leaders to develop a strategic plan to lead schools to close the equity gap and prepare students for college graduation;

THE MUST HAVES
  • Belief in and commitment to the mission and core value of YES Prep Public Schools
  • Creates and maintains positive working relationships on a team and/or in a highly collaborative environment
  • At least four years (including current year) of experience leading a school with exemplary student achievement results and/or a demonstrated track record of leading system-wide program
  • A dedication to learn, grow, and develop as a professional
  • Openness to giving and receiving frequent feedback
  • At least four years (including current year) as a manager with a track record of leading highly effective teams, strategic planning, and developing emerging leaders
  • Ability to maintain emotional control under stress
  • Ability to work urgently in a fast-paced and results-oriented environment
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year educational institution

NICE TO HAVES
  • Bilingual (Spanish)
  • Previous experience in traditional district or charter system managing or coaching principals

THE PERKS
  • Compensation – This position is an exempt, salaried position; salary offers commensurate with experience.

  • Health and Supplemental Insurance – A $0 monthly medical option that includes $600 towards a Health Savings Account, in addition to a variety of supplemental benefits including Dental, Vision, Disability, Life, etc. Employees must work 20+ hours a week to be eligible for a full spectrum of benefits, and 10 hours a week minimum for medical benefits.
  • Retirement Plans – Participation in Teacher Retirement System of Texas and a 457b Retirement Plan.
  • Paid Time Off – 15 days of Paid Time Off in addition to the system closures of our Academic Calendar for all regularly scheduled employees working 20+ hours a week.
Please note, part-time hourly employees (working fewer than 40 hours/week) do not receive pay during system closures. Additionally, 10- and 11-month hourly employees do not receive pay during the months in which they are not working.
  • Paid Leave Programming – In the event you need to be out due to medical needs (including maternity and paternity leave), YES Prep offers paid leave, paid out at 100%, based on eligibility and tenure.
