OBJECTIVES/PURPOSE


  • Lead an organization and suppliers to concurrently manage multiple projects across the U.S.
  • Accountable for the scope, schedule, and budget for BioLife Plasma Center and Testing Lab construction, renovations, and remodels, as well as miscellaneous projects including sustainability, asset management, and equipment replacements.
  • Oversee third-party suppliers to ensure adherence to contracts and project delivery.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to deliver on shared goals and expectations.
  • Manage an engaged team of project managers/engineers and analysts to deliver on company objectives for capital budgets.


SCOPE


The Head of Engineering Project Management is responsible for the BioLife capital budget, including annual budgeting, reporting, governance, submittals, compliance, and reconciliation. Role expectations include delivery of all new construction and miscellaneous projects to achieve project budgets, schedules, and scope. The Head of Engineering Project Management provides subject matter expertise for scope definition, design standards, and other critical equipment (HVAC and freezers) while leading innovation and process improvement to optimize the business.


The role requires collaboration across Global Engineering to leverage best practices and other resources to ensure compliance and alignment to Takeda policies. Expectations include leadership of a productive and engaged team to deliver on annual goals as well as oversight of supplier performance to maintain compliance to company policies while delivering on project expectations.


This position reports to the Global Head of BioLife Engineering and also collaborates with BioLife Finance, Market Expansion, Quality, Procurement, EH&S, Security, Data, Digital & Technology, Operations, Sustainability, and other critical stakeholders.


Accountabilities
  • Manage annual budgets to achieve the company’s financial expectations
  • Introduce innovative process improvements to optimize budgets and enhance the organization’s value proposition
  • Deliver new Plasma Center locations and Testing Lab projects according to the defined scope, schedule, and budget
  • Plasma Center & Testing Lab construction project management (40%)
  • Manage an internal team of project managers and analysts to maintain program continuity and delivery
  • Oversee suppliers that are responsible for new Plasma Center development, including entitlements and construction, to ensure adherence to expectations and compliance to company policies
  • Monitor contracts to ensure supplier alignment to agreements
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to provide subject matter expertise and collective accomplishment of successful projects
  • Manage annual budgets to achieve the company’s financial expectations
  • Monitor contracts to ensure supplier alignment to agreements
  • Deliver miscellaneous projects to support Plasma Centers, Testing Labs, and company stakeholders, according to the defined scope, schedule, and budget

  • Miscellaneous projects may include sustainability initiatives, critical equipment replacements, strategic asset management investment, and remodels/renovations

  • Network within Global Engineering to leverage best practices and other resources to ensure compliance and alignment to Takeda policies
  • Partner with Finance, Market Expansion, Quality, Procurement, EH&S, Security, Data, Digital & Technology, Operations, Sustainability, and other critical stakeholders to deliver on project expectations and Engineering’s value proposition
  • Contribute to leadership meetings and collaborate within peer groups to add value and innovation
  • Leadership of a productive and engaged team to deliver on annual goals as well as oversight of supplier performance to maintain compliance to company policies while delivering on project expectations

  • Ability to develop, interpret, and analyze statistical data, understand and resolve technical difficulties, interface with internal and external engineering/technical experts
  • Project management expertise to lead an organiztion that can concurrently manage multiple projects across the U.S.
  • Techncial engineering skills to understand and coordinate work, terminology, methods, best practices, and innvoation in order to optimize design and construction work
  • Fully competent computer skills including Microsoft Office, Outlook, data management and reporting, project tracking and reporting, and documentation software systems
  • Understanding of financial practices for annual budgeting and project costs

Education, Behavioural Competencies, And Skills


  • Experience with contracting procedures and contract negotiations with suppliers and vendors.
  • Understanding AIA formats/procedures for estimating, budgeting, cost analysis, change orders, and project close-out.
  • Prior experience with budget and project management in construction, engineering, and/or architecture required.
  • Preferred experience with simultaneously managing multiple dispersed projects throughout the U.S.
  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of ten years of industry related experience.
