Hawkeye Service Break Coordinator


The Hawkeye Service Break Program Coordinator plans, leads, and evaluates immersive service trips for students during academic breaks. They collaborate with community partners, recruit and train student leaders, ensure participant safety, and facilitate reflection activities to enhance social issue understanding and commitment to service. About The Division Of Student Life

The Division of Student Life includes 15 departments that span from Recreation Services to the Office of Leadership, Service and Civic Engagement and everything in between. We believe in working together as one team to achieve our mission: fostering student success by creating and promoting inclusive educationally purposeful services and activities within and beyond the classroom. Qualifications


Required Qualifications:


  • Some (6mo-1yr) experience working in a higher education setting with campus programming and student activities.
  • Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.
  • Demonstrated commitment to multiculturalism and experience working with students of color.
  • Bachelor's degree in College Student Personnel, Higher Education Administration, Student Development, or related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • Experience with standard office computer applications.


Desirable Qualifications


  • Knowledge of and commitment to University policies, procedures and regulations.
  • Experience coordinating service and volunteer programs such as alternative breaks or days of service
  • Experience in developing, implementing, and evaluating co-curricular leadership programs.
  • Extensive experience in event management processes and activities; ability to plan, organize and execute large student life or other medium to large-scale events and to coordinate resources before, during and after an event.
  • Master's degree in College Student Personnel, Higher Education Administration, Student Development, or related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • Basic knowledge of budgeting and expense management processes.
