Function Of Position

• Enforcement of peace and order on the grounds and in the buildings at Monroe Community College, and the prevention and investigation of theft, vandalism, accidents and illegal entry, etc. Employees direct visitors to parking areas or offices and check visitor passes. The employee reports directly to, and works under the general supervision of, a supervisor, manager, or special investigator. Supervision of others is not a responsibility of this class. Does related work as required.

Examples Of Duties & Responsibilities

• Employee of this class direct individuals to parking areas or offices and check parking passes, monitor alarms, and perform radio dispatch duties.
• Patrols buildings and grounds to maintain order, and checks and secures sensitive areas.

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications:

• Must be on the current Monroe County Civil Service eligible list for the title of Guard or must hold the Monroe County Civil Service title of Guard.
• Possession of a valid New York State Class D license at the time of appointment.
• Must be a Monroe County resident

Special Requirements

• As per department policy, employees of the Public Safety Department will be subject to a background check. Offer of hire will be contingent on the results of this process.
• Must be currently registered under the NYS Security Guard Training Act.
• If you are appointed you will be required to possess a valid license to operate a motor vehicle in New York State or otherwise demonstrate your capacity to meet the transportation needs of the position.

Job Type: Permanent, Full Time

Hours: per department needs

Salary: $32,995.27 (eligible for increment at 6 months, and will receive contractual increase of 2.75% effective 9/1/23)
