Position Information

Job Title
Graphic Designer

The Graphic Designer is responsible for creating and executing design solutions for Otis College of Art and Design across multiple print and digital platforms to meet the objectives of the Communications and Marketing team. The Graphic Designer must possess in-depth knowledge of design principles, typography, color, and composition. This position requires the ability to effectively collaborate with colleagues throughout campus and to work quickly, yet efficiently under tight deadlines. The Graphic Designer also liaises with external constituents or vendors and serves as a brand ambassador for the implementation of Otis College’s high-quality standards in that capacity. In addition, the Graphic Designer provides creative and administrative support for the Otis Design Lab under the guidance of the Creative Director including leading projects, mentoring student designers, and maintaining client relationships. Otis Design Lab is a student-driven design studio that allows Otis College students to complete design projects for external clients. This position reports directly to the Creative Director.

Essential Duties Summary
  • Assists in creating digital graphics for web, social media, and online advertising. (10%)
  • Oversees and works closely with commercial printers throughout the duration of the print
  • Under the guidance of the Creative Director, supports the Otis Design Lab by leading student designers on client projects, ensuring optimal workflow and productivity, including having all project components prepared when students report for work, and managing relationships with a diverse range of external clients and organizations. (20%)
  • Follows, executes, and enforces Otis College of Art and Design’s brand guidelines to produce high-quality collateral across various print and digital platforms. (30%)
  • Collaborates with the Creative Director to execute design for projects and takes the lead on projects from concept to execution, as assigned. (25%)

  • Maintains graphic assets in an organized fashion, using department tools including Asana, Slack, and G-Drive to ensure all production files are systematically organized and accessible. (5%)
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic/digital design, digital communications, advertising, or related field.
  • Minimum of three to five years of design/production experience and portfolio of corresponding work.
  • Strong understanding of design principles, color, typography, print production standards, and best practices for digital design for social media and the web. High-level proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (mandatory) and familiarity with basic HTML and CMS platforms.
  • Adept at working on multiple projects simultaneously, in an organized fashion in a fast-paced setting.
  • Able to work in teams, with professional vendors, and with clients to clearly communicate ideas and concepts.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Working knowledge of Final Cut Pro, AfterEffects, 3D modeling and/or animation a plus.
