Job Description
Company Description

Since we opened our doors in 2009, the world of commerce has evolved immensely, and so has Square. After enabling anyone to take payments and never miss a sale, we saw sellers stymied by disparate, outmoded products and tools that wouldn’t work together.

So we expanded into software and started building integrated, omnichannel solutions – to help sellers sell online, manage inventory, offer buy now, pay later functionality through Afterpay, book appointments, engage loyal buyers, and hire and pay staff. Across it all, we’ve embedded financial services tools at the point of sale, so merchants can access a business loan and manage their cash flow in one place. Afterpay furthers our goal to provide omnichannel tools that unlock meaningful value and growth, enabling sellers to capture the next generation shopper, increase order sizes, and compete at a larger scale.

Today, we are a partner to sellers of all sizes – large, enterprise-scale businesses with complex operations, sellers just starting, as well as merchants who began selling with Square and have grown larger over time. As our sellers grow, so do our solutions. There is a massive opportunity in front of us. We’re building a significant, meaningful, and lasting business, and we are helping sellers worldwide do the same.

The Hardware Marketing & Channels Team is responsible for growing Square through hardware sales and hardware-owned channels. We do this by optimizing our Retail and Ecommerce distribution channels (product portfolio, merchandising, etc) and our hardware product marketing (e.g. pricing, offer, messaging) across all marketing channels. This role will own the creation and execution of best in class in-store merchandising to drive discovery for Square’s hardware and ecosystem of solutions in the Retail Channel. Reporting to the Global Channel Marketing Lead, you will be responsible for the strategic development and implementation of global merchandising/display programs, driving brand ambassador & training initiatives.

This role is based in the US, but will work across and cross-functional implementation across Square’s 8 markets. It will cover our existing and new retail partners and external agencies. It will work closely with teams across Hardware (e.g. Product Marketing, Creative, Packaging), as well as non-hardware product and product marketing teams, Central Marketing, and our central Seller Experience product team.

We are looking for a highly motivated, cross-functionally savvy self-starter with excellent interpersonal and communication skills. The ideal candidate has strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

You Will

  • Build project schedules, establishing key dates and milestones for retail marketing campaigns
  • Maintain relationships with key cross-functional partners through weekly meetings to effectively communicate implementation progress and facilitate alignment with new initiatives
  • Collaborate with internal/external stakeholders in the development and execution of in-store temporary and permanent displays at retail accounts selling Square Hardware products (Best Buy, Walmart, Costco, Officeworks, etc)
  • Measure ROI and apply insights to guide future merchandising execution and strategy; employ test and learn strategies, tracking and analyzing results to optimize performance
  • Manage cadence of merchandising audits in the retail channel to ensure compliance, identify trends, communicate progress, performance, and recommend solutions where needed
  • Work with external agencies and internal partners to source retail marketing collateral such as dummy boxes, training materials, etc
  • Effectively deliver results within the designated and agreed budgets.
  • Maintain retail permanent displays to ensure compliance; work with display vendors to make sure display part inventory is adequate to support new store launches and existing display repairs

Qualifications

You Have

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, ability to clearly communicate complex topics with internal stakeholders and external partners
  • Ability to meet deadlines with minimal supervision
  • Strong quantitative analytical ability and history of using data to drive decisions
  • 5+ years experience in a retail merchandising/production role (consumer electronics related products are a plus)
  • Highly motivated self-starter who demonstrates resourcefulness, integrity and an eagerness to take responsibility for the continuous improvement of processes and results
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
  • Agency management required; experience working with display vendors, merchandising field teams, and strong knowledge of fundamental merchandising processes (installation and maintenance) or in-store fixtures, demo units, or demo software
