Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Global Occupational Health and Wellness Lead provides and coordinates occupational health and wellness leadership services for Zoetis. This includes establishing governance related to occupational health and wellness requirements and initiatives to drive consistency and alignment across all Zoetis sites and functions.
The Lead also supports patient care via oversight of global occupational health program and works as educator, researcher, and consultant. Provides support, as needed, to prevent and manage work-related injuries and illnesses, preventative care and wellness programs, as well as manage occupational health aspects of global compliance requirements.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide continuity of care by developing, documenting, and implementing effective medical treatment, return-to-work, and disability management
  • Promote optimal recovery through education and counseling of injured workers on pathophysiology and treatment plan
  • Document patient data in electronic medical database(s), as applicable per standard protocols
  • Partner with sites to ensure onsite clinics are maintained in accordance with policy; site services, contracted employees, contracts, and service level agreements are in place to meet Zoetis needs.
  • Secure patient information and maintain patient confidentiality
  • Manage occupational health and wellness committees/sub-teams, as assigned
  • Develop and manage a global Injury/Illness Case Management program including controlling off-site referrals and facilitating workers’ compensation, ADA requests, and assists in the interactive process for short/long term disability cases, including FMLA
  • Complete travel consults for international personal/business travelers
  • Comply with legal and professional requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
  • Provide reproductive health consults, including risk assessments of job duties to ensure colleague safety and reasonable accommodation
  • Create consistent global approach to initial patient screenings (including patient history and physical) and diagnosis and treatment of occupational/personal injuries and illnesses
  • Assess employee’s safe work capacity based on history, examination, and Fit for Duty program
  • Develop and implements training programs for occupational health nurses and staff to ensure compliance and alignment across all Zoetis.
  • Initiate and support colleague health promotion, ergonomic assessments, early intervention and preventative care (including stretching, strengthening, active release technique and other physiotherapy modalities), wellness programs and disease prevention programs
  • Assist in Biosafety and Industrial Hygiene risk assessments and program development
  • Develop and implement a company-wide drug and alcohol program (including testing, pre-employment, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, random, etc).
  • Establish a global occupational hygiene and medical surveillance program right sized for Zoetis
  • Provide (as applicable) and coordinate emergency response services and training (including first aid, AED, blood-borne pathogens, CPR).
  • Provide occupational health and wellness services to Zoetis colleagues within regulated scope of practice
  • Design and oversee implementation of occupational health governance and services that support the needs of the businesses and colleagues across all Zoetis.
  • Partner with Environmental Health and Safety and Human Resources to establish and ensure proper execution of guidelines, processes and procedures related to occupational health and wellness requirements and initiatives.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:
Colleague will interact most frequently with Human Resources, Occupational Health Clinics, Risk Management, Legal, Environmental Health and Safety, Third Party Administrators and Global/Site Leadership.
RESOURCES MANAGED:
Management of occupational health clinics and staff globally
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Masters Degree in Advanced Practice Registered Nursing (APRN); APRN Board Certification required
  • COHN-S preferred
  • Experience in ergonomics, acute episodic care, wellness care and counseling of adults required
  • People leadership experience a plus
  • Willing to obtain licensure in states where applicable and allowed
  • 10+ years’ experience in occupational health, ER or urgent care required
TECHNICAL SKILLS and COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
  • Certified as MERT trainer or willing to obtain
  • Skill in interpreting medical records, uncomplicated x-rays, spirometry tests, audiograms, electrocardiograms, and laboratory studies
  • Experience dealing with COVID-19 situations
  • Proficient in the use of electronic medical record keeping systems.
  • Experience consulting with colleagues as it relates to occupational health and/or wellness situations to assess post-disability return to work cases and counsel on worker’s compensation matters.
  • Ability to diagnose and treat musculoskeletal injuries and illnesses
PHYSICAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The work conditions for the position are stationary with periodic standing, walking, stooping, sitting, bending, pulling, and pushing throughout the workday. Transferring patients and objects may be required. This position requires visual acuity, keen hearing, clear distinctive speech, and manual dexterity. The incumbent may be exposed to infected patients and contaminated materials. The incumbent must be mature, flexible, sensible individual capable of working effectively in stressful situations, able to shift priorities based on patient needs. The colleague(s) may be required to travel and or work greater than 40 hours per week, including weekends and holidays to support the business. Must wear appropriate gowning and PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) in manufacturing/production areas.
The following base pay range reflects the anticipated base pay for this position if a selected candidate were to
be located in (Colorado). Base pay may vary based on location and other factors.

This position is eligible for short-term incentive compensation. The position is also eligible for long-term incentive.
