THIS POSITION IS FOR A GTT MATERIAL HANDLER THAT POSSESSES A JOURNEYMAN SKILL SET TO BE BASED AT CRYSTAL RIVER NORTH:
The Crystal River Fossil Station, a 2-unit coal-fired steam generating power plant located north of Crystal River, Florida, that is seeking an incumbent that possesses a Journeyman skill in one or more of the following areas: Mechanical, Electrical, or Instrumentation and Controls. The successful incumbent will be trained to the Journeyman Material Handler level.
Responsibilities
  • The incumbent will be able to operate the stacker-reclaimers, traveling barge unloader, rail unloading system, conveyer systems, coal handling controls, bulldozers, front end loaders, scrapers, and the stockpiling and handling of coal, Limestone and Gypsum once qualified.
  • The incumbent is responsible for housekeeping of the equipment to which they are assigned, both stationary and mobile.
  • It is the incumbent’s responsibility to communicate with their peers the complete status of coal handling operations regarding the duties of this position.
  • The incumbent will be trained as per Station Procedures to perform switching and tagging as necessary.
  • Incumbent will be working a rotating shift.
  • The incumbent must also possess the ability to instruct and train Journeyman Material Handlers in either Electrical, Mechanical, and Instrumentation and Controls. Dependent on the incumbent’s skill set.
  • The incumbent will be trained to operate the coal and ash handling systems from a control board using a Distributed Control System (DCS) and Ovation software, once qualified.
  • The incumbent will be responsible for all stationary and mobile heavy equipment once qualified.
Basic/Required Qualifications
  • Three (3) years of Journeyman experience in one or more of the following areas: Mechanical, Electrical, or Instrumentation and controls within a Generating Power Station.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Must successfully pass the MASS and POSS test to meet the Generation Technician position requirements.
  • Must possess good communication skills.
  • A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience Operating Conveyor belts.
  • Experience operating Heavy Equipment such as Bull Dozers, Front end loaders and Gantry or Mobile Cranes.
  • Welding Experience preferred
  • Experience operating a Distributed Control System (DCS).
Working Conditions
  • These positions will be working a rotating shift
  • Onsite Mobility Classification - Work will be performed at a company facility and incumbent will be subjected to all weather conditions.
Relocation is available for the successful incumbent
Travel requirements are 0-5% once established in role
