General Manager Jobs

Family-owned home heating company on Long Island’s East End, distributing Fuel Oil, Propane, and Diesel and top-quality Service, is seeking a General Manager to take responsibility for its day-to-day operations, productivity, quality and financial goals.

Fleet

• Manage vehicle fleet and facilities within regulatory and insurance boundaries
• Direct supervision of CDL delivery drivers
• Execute or supervise company’s fuel purchasing and retail pricing
• Forecast and manage manpower to meet ongoing customer and seasonal demands

Office

• Cultivate lasting relationships with customers and promote new customers
• Direct supervision of office staff, determine work flows
• Ensure customer satisfaction and follow up

Overall

• Review and renew fleet, property, health, and liability insurance appropriate for our needs
• Propose and maintain an operational budget in a dynamic weather-driven environment
• Formulate and execute policy
• Oversee maintenance and security of all company properties
• Research and provide training opportunities for staff
• Propose capital improvements and purchases required to maintain and grow the company
• Execute an annual review program for all employees

Personal Attributes:

• Entrepreneurial focus toward company growth
• Strong analysis, problem solving skills to provide innovative solutions
• Experience in the home heating industry is preferable, but we will consider the right mix of skills from other industries
• Recent leadership and management experience is required
• Self-motivated, self-starter, with a positive attitude
• High energy level to handle a dynamic, evolving environment
• Strong customer service
• CDL
• Must have experience in Fleet Management, preferably in a HAZMAT environment
