Job Summary


The Front Office Manager will provide leadership and guidance to Front Office staff to ensure consistent quality service is provided. Actively support the Assistant General Manager (AGM) in managing the overall success of the hotel by meeting or exceeding objectives for revenue and ensuring guest satisfaction. Works in collaboration with the hotel leadership team to support Housekeeping and Food & Beverage functions. Manage the Front Office area in accordance with hotel brand and company standards to achieve a friendly atmosphere of superior guest service and product quality. Represents the hotel to the guest throughout all stages of the guest's visit and provides exemplary performance for staff to follow.


Essential Elements


  • Train and develop current and new staff members to perform at a peak level by empowering them to solve guest issues and creatively sell out the hotel.
  • On occasion, performs opening and closing duties for Housekeeping department such as preparing room boards for Room Attendants and Housepersons.
  • Maintain Front Office brand compliance and company standards are achieved.
  • Lead Front Desk and Guest Service team members to ensure smooth and efficient operation across all shifts and through all phases of the guest experience.
  • Provide a model to team members for outstanding service for guests and hotel associates across all departments.
  • Responsible for Accounts Receivable related to the Front Office, with assistance and guidance from AGM.
  • Assimilate into Hampton Inn & Suites culture of Hamptonality through understanding, supporting, and participating in all elements and hotel programs. Demonstrate working knowledge of the service standards.
  • Act as hotel Manager on Duty (MOD) while on duty and ensures continuity of MOD coverage across all shifts.
  • Supports daily food & beverage service in breakfast area and hotel bar as needed.
  • Provides support to hotel Housekeeping function by performing room inspections as needed.


Minimum Qualifications


Any combination of education and experience equivalent to:


  • Minimum four (4) years of experience in Front Office and supervisory experience; OR
  • Additional language abilities are a plus.
  • CPR certification and/or first aid training preferred.
  • Any combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities is acceptable.
  • Associate's degree in business administration, hospitality and tourism, or other applicable field of study preferred but not required; AND


Specific Job Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities


  • Basic mathematical comprehension to understand and interpret numbers as they apply to operations in hotels.
  • Computer skills adequate to serve as an end user of OnQ hotel property management systems and Microsoft Office Suite products.
  • Ability to multi-task and work under pressure to navigate stressful situations during busy periods. Maintain a sense of urgency when following up with internal and external customers.
  • Effectively communicate verbally and in writing with internal and external customers, some of whom will require high levels of patience and diplomacy to defuse issues, collect and analyze accurate information, and resolve opportunities.


Physical Requirements


Requires finger agility, grasping, writing, constant standing, sitting, frequent walking, repetitive motions, hearing, visual insight, and may, on occasion, have to lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
