In this role of Front Desk/Bar, you will serve as our guests’ first point of contact and manage all aspects of their accommodation. Your responsibilities include registering guests, managing reservations, and providing information about our rooms, rates, and amenities. In this role of Front Desk/Bar, you will serve as our guests’ first point of contact and manage all aspects of their accommodation. Your responsibilities include registering guests, managing reservations, and providing information about our rooms, rates, and amenities. Ultimately, you will help to create a pleasant and memorable stay for our guests.

Responsibilities

  • Serve beer, wine, and snacks to bar patrons following all state and federal laws
  • Communicate hotel facilities and services to guests at check-in
  • Know how to properly handle wake-up calls
  • Ensure all check-in reservations have a credit card on file
  • Follow the Lost & Found process for any items reported
  • Be knowledgeable of any special promotions or rate programs
  • Maintain an accurate daily inventory of available rooms
  • Assuring guest packages are received by the recipient
  • Communicate with incoming staff and management by logging pertinent information in the front desk logbook
  • Check guests in and out of the hotel
  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the front desk and lobby area
  • Coordinate and communicate with hotel management staff as needed
  • Handle hotel phone system, transfer calls and take messages for guests and hotel staff
  • Administer all hotel policies, procedures, and standards
  • Be knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the city of College Station, TX
  • Notify housekeeping and maintenance of any reported problems in guests' rooms or on hotel grounds
  • Coordinate with other departments to fulfill special guest requests
  • Input all reservation changes and any special requests into the Cloudbed system
  • Place, modify, and cancel guest reservations
  • Administer hotel guest payment policies
  • Responsible for maintaining hotel key security
  • Ensure all credit cards, cash, and change funds are balanced throughout the shift
  • Must be able to provide information regarding local area facilities for guests


Other Duties and Responsibilities

  • Update room status as housekeeping notifies the desk of changes
  • Work and communicate with other departments to ensure the smooth operation of the hotel
  • Inform housekeeping of dirty rooms as they become available
  • Attend weekly front office staff meetings
  • Track the status of rooms used for site tours or out-of-order for maintenance
  • Assist other departments as needed or assigned


Skills & Required Qualifications

  • Ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing
  • Knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices, banking, and the analysis and reporting of financial data
  • Knowledge of the Hotel’s Property Management Software
  • At least 1 year of hotel front desk experience, bartending experience a plus
  • Must obtain state alcohol serving permit/sanitation training within first two weeks of hire (company provided)
  • Understanding and approval of the Hotel McCoy Culture (Travel for All)
  • Business correspondence writing skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • G-suite: Gmail, Gchat, Google Docs, and Sheets
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership techniques, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
  • Excellent organization and problem-solving skills
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Excellent math skills
  • Required knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as managing files and records and other office processes, procedures, and terminology
  • Mature judgment and professionalism in handling all matters
  • Expert computer skills, ability to compose and create reports, letters, memos, and procedures


Working Conditions & Physical Effort

  • Lifts and carries supplies and cases, weighing up to 50 lbs
  • Moderate physical effort required
  • Noise level is moderate to high
  • Stand and/or sit for extended periods
  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior and exterior hotel work environment
  • Essential hand/eye coordination
  • Reaches, bends, stoops, lifts, carries, and pushes
  • Limited exposure to physical risk
