The Opportunity

BobVila.com seeks a Freelance Web Producer to assist our editorial team in photo selection and formatting content. This role works with the Editor in Chief and Executive Editors of News and Service and Product Reviews on an assignment basis.

Visited by millions of readers each month, BobVila.com is the online home of America’s #1 home improvement icon. The site publishes new content daily, with themes running the gamut from home design trends to practical how-tos and real estate trends to yard care routines.

Our ideal candidate possesses a mix of editorial instincts, a keen eye for article layout, strong attention to detail, and organizational discipline for juggling multiple assignments.

Assignments

• Content Production: Combining text and image assets in our content management systems to create and publish compelling, media-rich web content.
• Editing and Writing: Though not strictly an editorial role, producing articles includes some writing in alt text for photos. Plus, the opportunity exists to learn SEO best practices and apply it to page elements like meta descriptions.
• Photo Research and Editing: Selecting highly relevant stock photos and editing (primarily cropping and re-sizing) for use on the site.

Qualifications

• Basic proficiency with digital publishing tools (e.g., WordPress, photo editing software).
• 1-3 years of digital publishing work or internship experience.
• Exceptional attention to detail; ability to multi-task and manage deadlines.
• Comfort working with HTML.
• Interest in DIY, home improvement, or interior design is a plus.

Compensation

$20-30 per hour, starting at approximately 15+ hours per week.
