Food Safety Specialist Jobs

• Advanced record keeping and documentation skills.
• Ability to work independently and with cross-functional teams to assist in driving and monitoring solutions.
• At least three years of experience working in food safety, food warehousing or distribution, compliance, or a similar field with an emphasis in regulatory issues is required.
• Excellent business communication, writing skills, organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Must possess the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet established deadlines in a timely manner with little supervision or oversight.
• Ability to communicate complex food safety topics to front-line team members in clear, concise, and comprehensible manner.
• Exceptional computer skills to include use of Excel, Word and other applications.
• Bachelor’s Degree with an emphasis in Biology, Chemistry, Food Science, Food Regulation, or a related course of study or equivalent work-related experience.
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with extended hours of availability, when required.
• May require travel 10% of the time.

Preferred:

• PCQI and HACCP certification or willingness to obtain certifications within 60 days of hire.

Join Casey's Food Safety team as a Food Safety Specialist at our Ankeny Distribution Center! As a Food Safety Specialist, you will support the Distribution Center and Transportation teams to achieve compliance with quality and food safety standards and regulation in the storage and distribution of food products. This includes managing a close relationship with their Distribution and Transportation team members. The Food Safety Specialist will promote a positive food safety culture with a focus on education and collaboration.

Key Responsibilities include:

• Conduct food safety and quality training for Distribution Center and Transportation team members.
• Carry out recall and withdrawal activities to support effective recalls and withdrawals.
• Assist with the execution of strategic objectives related to food safety, regulatory and internal compliance, and food safety challenges.
• Work daily with distribution center and transportation teams to maintain food safety compliance. Conduct food safety training.
• Interact with representatives of federal, state, and local regulatory and enforcement agencies in response to on-site visits or requests for information.
• Develop, foster and grow positive and professional relationships with Casey's distribution center team members.
• Review food safety plan and related documents on a regular basis.
• Collaborate with team members in the distribution center to drive regulatory and internal food safety compliance.
