Job Description

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Firm Administrator or Human Resources leader to manage the HR operations of the firm and supervise our administrative team. We are a growing firm in search of a highly motivated individual with a strong technical background in Human Resources, and a track record of managing people and implementing change. You will work closely with our COO and Partner group to identify areas of development and implement people strategies. This position will be directly responsible for the administration of HR processes throughout the employee lifecycle from onboarding through exit.


Job description:

  • Ensure employees fulfill mandatory ongoing Sexual Harassment trainings, and/or other workplace training as required by Fed and CA
  • Track PTO balances
  • Manage semi-annual employee performance evaluation process
  • Maintain Employee Handbook to ensure compliance with current Fed and CA regulations
  • Prepare quarterly bonus reports
  • Facilitate employee relations issues, including workplace violations, performance issues, terminations
  • Manage semi-monthly payroll
  • Administer all employee benefit programs and recommend revisions to keep firm competitive
  • Manage leaves of absence, including FMLA, CFRA and workers compensation
  • Implement new HRIS and maintain accurate, current documentation for all employees and former employees, in accordance with CA record-keeping requirements
  • Manage all onboarding and offboarding activities for new and exiting employees


Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Strong leadership and personnel management skills
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook and HRIS systems (knowledge of CCH Practice Management system a plus)
  • 8+ years of work experience as an HR Manager or Firm Administrator for a CPA firm or other professional services company
  • Bachelors or Masters degree, preferably in business administration or human resources
  • Knowledge of federal and state employment laws
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and provide excellent internal and external customer service
  • Experience with multi-state payroll
  • PHR or SPHR certification
