Job Description
All In One Accounting is excited to partner with a nonprofit in Mankato, MN to find a Finance Director to join the team. This role is crucial to the success of the organization and will report directly to the Executive Director.


More about the Finance Director role:


The Finance Director role will oversee the planning, direction, implementation, and management of all programs within the department and ensure efficient and effective administration, execution, and outcome attainment of initiatives and programs. This role will supervise the finance department staff while operating as a member of the management team responsible for planning, developing, and implementing agency policy.


Main job duties of the Finance Director role:


  • Enforce agency policy, rules, and regulations
  • Responsible for the administration and interpretation of government and fund accounting policies and procedures to accurately reflect the financial Management of the agency
  • Oversee and supervise special initiatives
  • Responsible for monitoring established internal controls and for initiating new controls to assure proper compliance with accounting principles
  • Responsible for supervision of Support Services department staff, including accounting, computer, and clerical departments
  • Oversee Department’s financial and work plans and evaluate effectiveness on an ongoing basis
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with OMB regulations, GAAP (Generally Accepting Accounting Principles), Organizational Standards, and policies in financial control as it relates to fiduciary agents to other organizations
  • Keep informed on all OMB Circular Regulations
  • Ensure the agency’s Fiscal systems and staff do not violate Federal and State laws, regulations, policies, and procedures as it relates to funding sources
  • Attend job-related seminars/workshops at the request/approval of the Executive Director
  • Participate as contributing member of management team for agency planning, development, and implementation of agency policies
  • Responsible for advising and training Program Directors and the Executive Director on accounting matters, interpretation and use of financial reports, and the preparation and completion of program and agency budgets.
  • Represent the agency when requested
  • Responsible for the completion of yearly IRS and state reporting
  • Responsible for the development of information to control financial operations and comply with government policy and reporting regulations


Requirements


Education and Experience


  • Team oriented with ability to work productively with people
  • Minimum 2 years of management/supervisory experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills at all levels
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail with high degree of accuracy
  • Analytical data collection and research; uses experience to interpret data
  • Preferred experience and knowledge of a computerized fund accounting system
  • Understanding of governmental accounting/grants
  • Must have BS/BA Degree in accounting and 5 years of accounting experience.
  • Demonstrate high ethical standards and attention to detail
