Job Title: Finance and Accounting Professional (Entry Level)

Position #: 00810220 – Requisition #: 30095

Job Summary:


This full-time, University Staff (non-classified position) will be responsible for the financial tracking and reporting of gift, institutional, and some grant speed types, annual budget process for gift speed types, working with PIs and administrators to prevent and clear deficits, sending and following up on outstanding Shared Resources invoices, and submitting invoices for payment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Submits invoices for payment through Marketplace.
  • Prepares requisitions and payment vouchers in Marketplace.
  • Reviews new speed types for appropriate setup inputs.
  • Sends out invoices to Shared Resources customers.
  • Works with pre-award and department administrators to ensure proper payroll allocations to assigned programs and projects.
  • Maintains A2E-integrated reports for fiscal review of assigned programs and projects to each investigator, manager, or administrator monthly.
  • Account Maintenance
  • Works with customer institutions to ensure timely payment of invoices.
  • Uploads gift speed type budgets into Axiom annually.
  • Works closely with the accounting & finance team and fund managers/principal investigators to resolve all funding discrepancies immediately.
  • Reviews grants for unallowable transactions and prepares projects for final reporting and closeout.

Qualifications:


Minimum Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in business administration, business, finance, accounting, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
    • Substitutions: Related experience in budget, finance, business administration or clinical field may substitute for the degree on a year for year basis.

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1 year of professional experience working in any budget, finance or clinical related position.
  • 1 year of experience working with University of Colorado systems, including PeopleSoft Finance, HCM, Concur and CU Marketplace.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Organizational skills, ability to multi-task, adapt to change, and handle competing priorities.
  • Logic skills with the ability to learn and process large amounts of information.
  • Critical thinking and decision-making skills with strong attention to detail.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Thorough understanding of basic accounting principles.
  • Financial analytical skills, as well as the ability to troubleshoot problems and pursue resolutions.

Anticipated Pay Range:


The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as $42,888 - $54,553.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
