Who we’re looking for:

August Point Advisors is seeking a full-time F&B Consultant to join its team. The F&B Consultant will work closely alongside APA’s Managing Partners on the firm’s portfolio of projects, with a particular focus on Strategic Planning and Project Management engagements. At times the F&B Consultant will take a lead role on a project and at other times will operate in a supporting role to the Managing Partners. The majority of these projects will be in the NYC metro area though some may be outside of the city and require occasional travel. The ideal candidate for this position loves food experiences, has a background working in the restaurant industry, has been on the opening team of a few F&B venues, has a creative mind for F&B concepts, understands the language and culture of hospitality-based operations, and has ample amounts of the all-around, figure-it-out generalist energy that’s unique to F&B people. For candidates who have that, we can teach the specifics.

What you will be involved in:

  • Liaising with relevant project stakeholders including architects, designers, kitchen equipment consultants, engineers and more
  • Ad hoc client advisory and internal projects
  • Company administration and organizational tasks as required
  • Workshopping F&B concepts with clients to be exciting, viable, and commercially sustainable businesses
  • Building capital budgets for the development and construction of client projects
  • Facilitating regular project check-ins with clients and project teams
  • Developing and managing project roadmaps and business plans for clients
  • Translating those ideas into detailed financial projections

What you know or know how to do:

  • Knowledge of restaurant industry, functionality, space planning and equipment
  • Take accurate notes and follow-up with people assiduously on relevant tasks
  • Strong project management, planning and organizational skills
  • Build, read, and analyze financial projections and restaurant profit-and-loss statements
  • Dialogue with multiple stakeholders to evaluate and help develop F&B concepts
  • Excellent and adaptable interpersonal skills
  • Strong MS Office skills with an emphasis in Excel

Ideal Additional Skills:

  • Understanding of design, architecture, construction process terminology
  • Ability to interpret and comment on architectural drawings
  • Formal Project Management training and/or fluency with Gantt charts, WBS and other PM tools

Your Prior Experience:

  • BA/BS in hospitality management, business or other related area of study
  • 3-5 years in restaurant operations, ideally with a focus on new store development, or equivalent experience in design or construction project management with a focus on food & beverage

Compensation:

$75,000-90,000 depending on prior experience in relevant positions
