About The Position
The Associate is primarily responsible for supporting the mission of FasterCures by serving as a policy analyst on core programmatic work. These topics are generally related to accelerating biomedical research to enhance patients’ chances of receiving life-saving cures, and may fall broadly within the fields of public health, health policy, global health, and patient engagement and advocacy.
A core responsibility of this position will be to track, monitor, and respond to health policy developments. This position requires an ability to conduct policy research and synthesize information, assist in the drafting of issue briefs and white papers, and support project management activities focused on FasterCures’ priorities. The Associate works with internal staff to help bring FasterCures programs to targeted external audiences and build communities around our areas of focus to move from ideas to implementation. The Associate will support programmatic activities through providing a variety of logistical and coordination duties and should have a strong attention to detail and be highly organized.
Responsibilities
  • Assist with FasterCures and Milken Institute events, including by providing content and logistical support.
  • Support the FasterCures team in monitoring and responding to policy developments and activities that relate to FasterCures’ core programmatic areas.
  • Create a mechanism to track and prioritize policy developments related to FDA, CMS, NIH, ARPA-H, and other relevant health agencies and departments.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Monitor new and emerging policy developments and identify opportunities for FasterCures to comment or provide input.
  • Develop initial drafts of policy summaries and briefs, comment letters, statements of support, and other written materials as needed.
  • Collaborate with government affairs team to prioritize policy engagements.
  • Provide administrative support to the team and its activities.
  • Track the implementation of new legislation, including FDA User Fee Acts, the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), and Pandemic and All Hazards Preparedness Act (PAHPA).
  • Support communications staff in the framing of externally facing material.
Qualifications
  • Excellent writers, analytical, creative and rigorous thinkers: Detail-oriented and flexible problem solver. Can synthesize diverse streams of information and switch comfortably between academic and real-world thinking. Strong writer and communicator with ability to clearly convey key themes and ideas to a variety of audiences.
  • Roll-up-your-sleeves mindset: Flexible, proactive, and comfortable with ambiguity. Comfortable with proposing an approach upfront while constantly refining along the way.
  • Team players: Collaborate well with multidisciplinary teams, comfortably taking leadership when necessary as well as following directions.
Experience & Training
  • Health policy experience required
  • Utilizes critical thinking and analytical skills
  • Bachelor’s degree required, a Master’s degree is preferred
  • Familiarity with biomedical research topics and relevant agencies
  • Utilizes strong communication and organization skills
  • High competence with technology and/ or experienced with the Microsoft Office Suite (including Microsoft Office 365 and Teams)
  • Able to work independently, meet deadlines, and is proactive
Working Conditions & Travel Requirements
This position will work in a professional office environment. This person will also be required to travel occasionally to other offices and/or venues to assist with events as needed, requiring occasional work outside of traditional hours. International along with domestic travel is possible.

This position will be working a hybrid model, where you will be expected to report to your respective office location 3-days per week (Tuesday - Thursday), this is subject to change.
