Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts seeks Faculty Associates to teach the course offerings listed below. The courses are part of our BA Fashion programs in the School of Art.
The successful candidate(s) will teach in-person or online course, prepare course materials, evaluate student work, and assist students. Faculty Associates positions are one semester, non-benefits eligible, fixed-term appointment with no tenure implications, not to exceed .40 FTE. The number of courses is contingent upon needs, funding and sufficient enrollment. Salary is based upon qualifications and assigned teaching load. Individuals employed as Faculty Associates may not hold multiple, non-benefits eligible appointments at Arizona State University.

Essential Duties
At the current time, we anticipate hiring new Faculty Associates to teach the following courses:
- FSH 108 Digital Literacy for the Arts
- FSH 175 Merchandising Essentials
- FSH 122 Apparel Construction
- FSH 206 Fashion Design I
- FSH 135 Foundations in Fashion Design Communications
- FSH 380 Fashion Forecasting
- FSH 201 Textiles Survey
- FSH 125 Survey of the Fashion Industry
- FSH 294 Fashion Hairstyling Basics
- FSH 385 Fashion Visual Merchandising
- FSH 200 Textiles Survey Lab
- FSH 375 Fashion Branding Strategies
- FSH 396 Pro Practices for Fashion
- FSH 204 Social Aspects of Fashion
Minimum Qualifications
Associates from fashion school or a comparable degree with a concentration in fashion or 3 years of professional experience working in design industries.
Desired Qualifications
- Evidence of teaching effectiveness at the baccalaureate or graduate level.
- Experience teaching in both online asynchronous and in-person teaching modalities.
Working Environment
- Regular use of standard office equipment including, but not limited to: computer workstation/laptop (keyboard, monitor, mouse), printer, copier, telephone and associated computer/technology peripherals.
- Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled classroom setting subject to extended periods of standing, lecturing, facilitating classroom activities.
- Clearly communicate to perform essential functions.
- Frequently required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work.
- Occasional bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds.
- Occasional activities require ability to quickly change priorities which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts.
