SUMMARY OF ASSIGNMENT

The Family Service Coordinator performs work that assures the delivery of family support and health services to enrolled children and their families by acting as a team member to provide integrated services using family support principles that ensure the healthy and safe development of each child and family.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Prior experience working in an ECEAP setting.
  • Computer experience, specifically working with the Google Suite.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Demonstrated accurate recordkeeping skills with a clear organization system.
  • Computer experience with knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Google Suite.
  • Excellent communication skills with staff, community, and students.
  • Exercise the highest level of confidentiality.
  • Associate or higher degree with an equivalent of 30 college quarter credits of education, human development human services, family support, social work, early childhood education, child development, psychology, or another field directly related to their job responsibilities. Theses 30 credits may be included in the degree or in addition to the degree.
  • Demonstrated initiative and capability to assume responsibility with minimal supervision.
  • Experience providing Social Services to Children and Families preferred.
  • Experience leading and facilitating meetings.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Services, Human Services, or Education preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective public relations with staff and community.
  • Access to a private automobile and possess a valid driver’s license.

RESPONSIBILITIES


Eligibility, Recruitment, Prioritization, Enrollment, and Attendance

  • Monitor and follow-up on classroom attendance, maintain full enrollment.
  • Recruit families to enroll eligible children in the District Early Childhood Education and Assistance Program (ECEAP)
  • Set up and maintain required documentation for all enrolled ECEAP children and families.
  • Maintain Program Waiting List.

Family Support

  • Conduct parent conference quarterly.
  • Facilitate Direct Service Team (DST) meeting with classroom staff.
  • Assist families in transitioning their children to kindergarten.
  • Provide family support services, resources, referrals, and follow-up to enrolled families.
  • Serve no more than 40 families concurrently
  • Provide a support system for families with a focus on family strengths and goal-setting.
  • Conduct home visits and site visits.
  • Act as a member of a multidisciplinary team, Collaboration Meetings as needed. Attend other building, district, and county meetings as needed.
  • Assist families in developing goals, monitor progress by communicating with parents regularly.

Parent Involvement and Education

  • Develop and coordinate educational opportunities with parents.
  • Involve parents in program leadership and governance, specifically Policy Council.
  • Maintain Family Resource Library.
  • Develop and facilitate monthly parent meeting agenda.
  • Assess the individual and group educational needs and interests of parents.
  • Coordinate volunteer opportunities within the building for parents.
  • Coordinate parent access to written information and resources through a variety of ways, i.e. website, social media, email, bulletin boards and visual displays, flyers, and notices in children’s V.I.P. folders.

Health Services

  • Review health information and provide follow-up on health education, resources, and referrals.
  • Coordinate health screens for vision, hearing, height, and weight.
  • Provide food allergy information to the school nurse, classroom staff, building secretary, and food production kitchen.
  • Assist families in meeting program requirements for well-child exams, immunizations, and dental exams.

Documentation and Recordkeeping

  • Maintain documentation for staff qualifications and professional development/training hours.
  • Complete all required reports according to timelines.

Collaboration/Community Involvement

  • Performs other duties as assigned by Principal and/or ECEAP Director. (move to the bottom of #7)
  • Collaborate with school district personnel, community agencies, and businesses.
  • Represent and promote West Valley ECEAP at community events.

Related Activities

  • Coordinate classroom field trips and assemblies.
  • Complete DCYF required training, and a minimum of 20 hours of professional development per year as stated in the performance standards.
  • Assist director in program compliance.
  • Coordinate volunteer training.
  • Coordinate transportation.
  • Coordinate kindergarten transition.
  • Develop and maintain Policy and Procedure Manual, Parent/Volunteer Handbook, Recruitment Plan, Transition Plan.
  • Coordinate building food service.
  • Maintains school district and ECEAP confidentiality agreement regarding child and family information.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Salary and work year to be determined by the negotiated agreement.


Verification of identity and United States work authorization must be completed before employment commences. The successful candidate for this position must complete a fingerprinted background check with the Washington State Patrol and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Employment is contingent upon clearnace of the background check.


ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

RETIREMENT - All regular, non-substitute employees are enrolled in a state retirement plan through the Washington State Department of Retirement Systems (DRS).


SICK LEAVE - All regular, non-substitute employees receive 12 sick leave days (prorated based on FTE) and paid time off. Substitute employees receive sick leave per RCW 49.46.210.


PAID TIME OFF - All regular, non-substitute employees receive paid time off, including annual and/or vacation leave. Paid time off varies by position and work year. Refer to the applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement or salary schedule for details.
