Facility Maintenance Supervisor Jobs

Job Summary: INDUSTRIAL SETTING

Supervise, plan and coordinate the efforts of a variety of service providers in meeting the physical needs of the organization. Coordinates these activities with Manager. Oversee the maintenance of buildings and grounds, the provision of utilities for comfort, the restoration and renovation of facilities and new construction.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Typical tasks performed include a combination of the following:

• Handle promptly and courteously employee concerns, complaints, and issues.
• Conduct tests of new components, assemblies and systems based on test criteria as established by policies and procedures and/or written test plans and report to the Production Floor Manager.
• Perform supervisory functions including participates performance appraisals, staff meetings and other events to foster good communication and employee morale.
• Participate and Maintain 5S housekeeping standards
• Responsible for hazardous waste disposal programs in coordination with Production Floor Manager.
• Review, approve, and prioritize work orders and approve paperwork regarding expenditures.
• Works directly with TCEQ regarding site visits and recommendations to ensure compliance.
• Responsible for maintaining a preventive maintenance program. This includes all heating, air conditioning, as well as maintenance and repair of building and equipment.
• Provide training to new and existing support services employees.
• Monitor and facilitate the planning and design of all major maintenance and construction activities.
• Conduct site inspections and interact with employees regarding issues of maintenance and repair of facilities.
• Sandblast motors – Backup
• Participates in plan for fire evacuation and disaster response.
• Maintain proficiency on technological changes to meet new laws and efficiency standards.
• Operate required machinery and equipment in a safe manner following established safety rules, maintain a neat and clean work area, and report any unsafe acts or conditions to the immediate supervisor.
• Reports to Manager any safety issues: equipment, workplace, etc.
• Keep area Foreman up to date on all on-going projects, with regards to project status, completion time projections, and any problems that may have arisen during the project.
• Submit financial estimates for maintenance/replacement of equipment.
• Use Epicor MES daily and accurately.
• Complies with all safety policies and procedures of Sun-Star Electric, Inc.
• Maintain up to date records for all state, federal, and insurance semi-annual and annual maintenance inspections on all vehicles.
• Work with other Managers/Supervisors to facilitate a team-work approach, combining the expertise and manpower of both departments for the completion of a project.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• Demonstrate a high level of safety awareness to ensure all subordinates are aware of standards expected.
• Deliver cost effective maintenance solutions by continual review of methodology utilized while ensuring technical integrity and optimum cost.
• Understand the business drivers and monitor those associated with maintenance so any necessary actions can be taken as soon as possible to address the situation.
• Instruct support staff in: safety, training, instruction and correction
• Continually review and improve the maintenance strategy for effectiveness.
• Lead the execution of routine daily maintenance, assuring that all responsibilities are dealt with accordingly.
• Manage an effective maintenance team.
• Assure asset integrity standards are maintained.
• Excellent understanding of the implementation of maintenance strategies.
• Deliver cost effective maintenance solutions by continual review.

Minimum Requirements

Education: Electrical education: Journeyman minimum, Master Electrician preferred

Experience: Knowledge of electrical engineering practices and principles. Experience in testing processes related to submersible motors. Must possess demonstrated ability to operate shop equipment including welder, drill press, lathe, mill, dynameter, hoists, weight scales, electrical analyzers, volt meters, band saws and hand tools. Must possess the ability to communicate both orally and in writing.

Special Skills: Basic computer literacy.
