Job Description
ZURU Tech is redefining construction. We believe that the future of housing will be defined by the automation of the construction industry. Today, Zuru Tech is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, without compromising aesthetic and adaptability of the products we are creating. As part of this work, we need industrial designers who can develop architectural products and modular designs without compromising usage or aesthetics, and bring new creative ideas to grow our product offerings. You would be part of the design teams in Los Angeles, and working with Auckland NZ, and software teams in Moderna and Milan, Italy. With redesigning the house from the ground up, there are a multitude of different, novel problems to solve.

Our goal is to build our Los Angeles design hub by attracting the best talent in the US. This is a great chance to join a highly innovative, well-funded and fast-paced team at an early stage of the project. It’s the best part of being in a startup, with fewer constraints and a great office. If you are a talented, creative, and driven person with a proven track record in solving challenging problems then have a look below.

Duties & Responsibilities:
Work alongside our product design team to develop the physical and aesthetic aspects of our different architectural components, considering our goal of timelessness and sustainable design.
Establishing, developing, and implementing best-in-class product design processes and strategies that can be applied to every detail of our buildings.
Develop a cohesive catalog of finishes, materials, and geometries that are used throughout our buildings in all products, by understanding current trends across multiple markets as well as forecasting emerging trends to design a successful product.
Coordinate with and consult other team members on product design, layout, detail components, and systems and resolve design or other problems.
Use 3D software for modeling and rendering, as well as knowledge of prototyping equipment.
Work with our pre-production and production department to validate designs, mock-ups, and test homes.
Work alongside the code compliance team to design a product that can be used in all our target markets.
Work with our software teams to develop our own software to design the best buildings possible.

Skills & Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Industrial Design or similar.
2+ years of professional experience in an industrial design related role.
Experience using 2D and 3D drawing software. Rhino, Autocad and Solidworks very important.
Experience in manufacturing processes and techniques used to manufacture products made from a range of materials.
Excellent presentation, verbal, and written communication skills.
Strong focus on simplicity and usability.
Willingness to travel is a plus.

Please note: this is a full-time position in our Los Angeles office (El Segundo).
