Role Value Proposition:

MetLife’s Internal Audit Department reports to the Chairman and CEO and is accountable to the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors. Internal Audit (IA) is an independent, global organization that plays an important role in partnering with the business to ensure that management anticipates, recognizes, and appropriately manages risks. We protect MetLife and our stakeholders through meaningful independent assurance and advice, while advocating for risk management and internal controls.


We are looking for an Executive Assistant to support the a) Head of Audit for the US Business, Designated Functions and Global Audit Operations, b) Head of Audit for Technology, and c) Internal Audit team members reporting to these leaders or located in the Cary office. Internal Audit advises on and assesses key risks throughout these functions and is responsible for clear communication of these risks at all levels of the MetLife organization. This role will be instrumental in supporting these leaders and teams in ensuring top risks are communications with clarity and urgency.


Given the location of this role within MetLife’s Global Technology and Operations hub, the individual should be comfortable with innovation and experimentation. This individual will help engage in clear communications and networking with other support team members across the Cary site and other global MetLife locations.


Key Responsibilities:


The Executive Assistant to an Officer provides administrative support to AVPs and above, as well as office manager responsibilities to the team on location.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Providing support to business resiliency efforts of the IA team, assessing record retention compliance, shipping and mailing and managing supply orders for the location
  • Assisting with supporting a healthy and energetic office climate, including periodic lunches/team celebrations
  • Virtual roles predominately work from a home office with periodic visits to the assigned GCSO office as needed for team events, meetings, training, business continuity, etc. Address and resolve complex and critical client escalation issues.
  • Drafting and revising correspondence and assisting with the preparation and distribution of various reports and presentation materials.
  • Proactively look for process improvements
  • Uphold a strict level of confidentiality
  • Prioritizing and managing multiple projects and following through on issues promptly and effectively.
  • Work in a team environment, interfacing and coordinating with other U.S. and international Internal Audit and client teams to facilitate the organization of meetings, communications, and resolve issues/remove barriers to execution.
  • Keeping respective officers on track with deliverables, screening calls, resolving inquiries and directing more complex inquiries to the appropriate party promptly and efficiently.
  • Scheduling and maintaining calendars of appointments, meetings and travel itineraries and coordinating related arrangements
  • Creating and managing files and completion and timely submission of expense reports.
  • Assisting in the Onboarding/Offboarding/Hiring process
  • Support team’s use of audit documentation tool, coordinating and reporting status of global audit ratings and issue resolution
  • Periodically verifying room reservations and providing logistics to periodic onsite meetings
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned.


Required Qualifications:

  • New hire should live a commutable distance from the site the role is posted
  • 5 years of Administrative Assistant Experience
  • Strong skills in Windows 10, Microsoft Office365 (including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint); developing skills and/or flexibility to learn other programs (e.g., MS Teams, Visio)
  • High School diploma
  • Develop and sustain a level of professionalism among staff and clientele
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
