HL Learn provides professional development programming for the firm’s attorneys and business services personnel. The Learning and Development Manager will support the department to implement this comprehensive training by managing multi-day programming, event planning and on-site support. These programs focus on professional skills, not practice group specific legal skills.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage planning and rollout of webinar and local office programs, such as writing, oral communications, negotiation skills
  • Work with department directors, partners, counsel and associates to design, update and roll-out curriculum, workshops and initiatives
  • Implement various learning initiatives and programs, and assist in the implementation of the learning and development strategy to meet attorney development
  • Manage learning and development coordinator(s)
  • Contribute to development of e-learning and technology-enhanced learning projects. Produce professional development resources as part of learning events
  • Manage annual and periodic strategic departmental communications and brochures
  • Conduct in person DC office lateral orientation for new attorneys
  • All other duties as may be assigned
  • Primary event planner and on-the-ground support for associate multi-day intensives (DC office)
  • Work with internal and external faculty to deliver programming
  • Manage project timelines, deliverables and all logistics associate with delivering training and development programs and initiatives, including production of all program materials
  • Manage on the ground event planning for all attorney in-person programming offered by the department (DC office)
  • Strengthen, streamline and improve programming based on participant and stakeholder feedback
  • Liaise and collaborate with stakeholders and other department functions around program design, logistics and attendance
  • Write communications for programming and other initiatives, including department newsletter (done every two months)


QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Enthusiasm and desire to pursue a career in learning and development
  • Ability to travel to other offices as needed
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong writing and editing skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team and also take initiative
  • Ability to preserve confidentiality and exercise discretion


EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS, AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant professional services event planning and project management or event planning experience required
  • Experience working independently as well as within cross-functional teams in a collaborative, professional environment


HOURS

Core hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Flexibility to work additional hours and adjust hours to meet requirements within a global firm is required.
