Job Description
  • This position is responsible for processing program applications to determine program eligibility and assisting applicants to ensure they have complete applications and understand the program requirements.
  • In-state travel may be required for this position.

Job Duties:
  • Respond to all assigned help desk tickets and provides backup call center support as needed
  • Contribute to the team's goals, ensures timeliness of all programmatic requirements, and makes recommendations on policy/procedure changes/improvements
  • Processing applications for program eligibility review for enrollment and/or renewal
  • Review expenses as requested by ESA applicants and approve based on ESA statute and parent handbook guidelines
  • Helps communicate program requirements to the stakeholders and assists in the submission of complete applications
  • Review submitted expense reports for completion and upload into ESA portal as needed
  • Communicate program requirements, statute, policies and applicable guidelines to program participants, applicants, and stakeholders, etc.
  • Evaluates and maintains applicant accounts/cases pursuant to state statute and ADE policy
  • Assist in the appeals processes including the potential need to testify as a witness

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):
Please note: For those selected for interviews, skills assessments may be administered as part of the interview process.
Knowledge:
  • Responding to customer questions and concerns
  • Processing applications for program eligibility and enrollment
  • Applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree within a field appropriate to the assignment from an accredited college and/or experience working with case management, program compliance and/or other applicable educational related experience.
  • Processing and reviewing documents, reports, and/or expense reports to ensure programmatic compliance
  • Research and preliminary interpretation of applicable policies, procedures and rules related to the program
Skills:
  • Research and problem solving
  • Excellent communication, writing, and presentation skills
  • Analyze data; apply rules and regulations
  • Intermediate to advanced skill in using Microsoft Outlook.
Abilities:
  • Accept directions and feedback from ESA Management and follow through appropriately.
  • Multi-task, prioritize work load, and adjust priorities in a dynamic setting
  • Gather facts and communicate details clearly
  • Handle a variety of demands and projects
  • Establish positive and professional relationships with program participants; work as part of a team
  • Work with a broad spectrum of professionals and applicants
  • Maintain complex and confidential files to include proper handling

Selective Preference(s):
  • Preference will be given to those applicants with:
o Basic knowledge of Title 15, chapter 19 of the Arizona Education Code
o Bilingual in Spanish
o Knowledge of local, state and federal laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures relating to the special education and/or education

Retirement:

You will be required to participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS) upon your 27th week of employment, subject to waiting period. On or shortly after, your first day of employment you will be provided with enrollment instructions and effective date.
