Join our growing team as an Environmental Engineer - Waste & Water within our Global Supply Chain organization! The Environmental Engineer is responsible for partnering with leaders, associates, and other associates in the broader Safety, Health & Environmental team to sustain and continue to grow the safety culture in our Fresno, TX facility.
We are seeking a qualified and motivated individual to coordinate environmental programs, inspections, training, audits and hazard assessments related to OSHA and environmental requirements in support of established safety policies and practices ensuring the wellbeing of employees, contractors and visitors.
What You Will Do:
- Provide water/wastewater/waste/UST support and guidance including:
- Coordinate Threatened and Endangered Species and Historical and Archeological Resources reviews, Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP), and payment of water or wastewater permit fees.
- Manage compliance assurance processes for potentially hazardous or toxic substances.
- Support emergency response incidents. Assist Operations with agency notifications if requested and FEAs with completion of follow-up written reports. Coordinate with Environmental and Property Solutions Company on site assessment and remediation projects.
- Steward Toxic Release Inventory (TRI) waste and water data generated by the field FEA to ensure it is provided to Air Environmental Engineer for annual reporting.
- Maintain processes to ensure waste appropriately is managed by contractors.
- Assist Shift Supervisors in developing and implementing applicable training.
- Manage environmental consultants providing water/wastewater/waste support.
- Participate in the Loss Prevention System (LPS) program including Loss-Prevention Self-Assessments (LPSAs), Job Loss Analysis (JLA) creation, Loss Prevention Observations (LPOs), Factors, Root Causes, Solutions (FRCS) investigations, Near Loss Investigations (NLIs) and Loss Investigations (LIs) as necessary.
- Advise Operators, Engineers, and Maintenance personnel as subject matter expert in water/wastewater/waste regulations and related compliance program areas.
- Provide on-site support as needed, including but not limited to, to support environmental assessments, water waste strategies or emergency response situations.
- Steward and report water/wastewater/waste management activities utilizing forms. Evaluate and implement opportunities for pollution prevention / waste minimization.
- Review notifications or regulatory documents prepared by FEAs for technical consistency, interpretation, and application of waste management regulatory requirements.
- Develop and update critical documents including Regulatory Compliance Guidance, Water Sampling Procedures Manual, Waste Management/Minimization Plan, Facility Tracker, etc.
- Coordinate application and renewal/modification of NPDES, UIC, UST, AST, SWPPP, Waste Registrations permits and Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) Plans.
- Develop and implement water/wastewater/waste compliance strategies and continuous improvement processes.
- Interface with and respond to regulatory agencies on water/wastewater/waste management compliance issues, including inspections, investigations, Notices of Violation, fines, and other enforcement mattes, coordinating with Law Department as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of environmental experience
- Knowledge of US Federal and State water/wastewater/waste regulations, including Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA)
- Immigration sponsorship not provided for this role
- Ability to obtain a valid US driver license
- Bachelor's or equivalent degree in Engineering or Science field
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with emergency response
- 5-7 years of environmental experience highly preferred
- Strong experience coordinating or managing regulatory compliance for major projects (remediation highly preferred)
- Highly preferred onsite experience within large quantity generator facilities
