Design requirements and failure modes and effects validations

Evaluate the effects of plant design changes on simulator operation, fidelity, configuration and certification.

Evaluate with training on requirements for site engineering, maintenance, and operations for the modification.

Engineer I: 0 – 2 years experience

Engineer II: 2+ years experience

Experience in the application of DOE rules, guides, orders, standards, and handbooks including 10CFR 830, Nuclear Safety Management, is required.

Perform analysis of equipment, processes, and procedures prescribing correct methods, control requirements, and limitations.

BA / BS Degree and a minimum 2 years of relevant experience, or

MA / MS Degree with a minimum 1 year of experience

Pre-employment Drug Screen - External applicants selected for this position are required to successfully complete a post-offer, pre-employment drug test.

Increase in years of direct experience required for advanced level positions_

Work with inter-faculty transfer management; SAR-413, LST-337

Work with receiver for packaging requirements

Containers types include contact handled and remote handled

Assist end users with proper application and operation of containers such as thermal loading and other payload requirement verification

Collaborate with nuclear safety on container requirements; TSRs, safety significance, container lists (LST-737, etc.), assign damage ratios for material at risk

Establish packaging requirements for receipt to MFC facilities

4-6 years of engineering experience

Minimum of 1 year of nuclear experience

Minimum of 6 years of engineering experience or 5 years of engineering experience with state registration as a Professional Engineer

Experience with safety analysis codes, (e.g. RETRAN, VIPRE, RELAP, and GOTHIC, and/or equivalents)

Experience with Radiological Engineering analysis codes, (e.g. RADTRAD, SCALE, MCNP, and LOCADOSE)

Experience with nuclear fuel and PWR safety analyses design analyses

Experience or education in electrical and/or electronic control systems.

Experience with radioactive waste handling and processing requirements.

Operate and maintain robotic remote handling equipment.

Demonstrated and current hands on experience with the operation of mechanical systems and design.

Experience following procedures and adhering to engineering policies, programs, and practices.

Experience performing work and/or leading work in the field (non-office environment).

Responsibilities (including but are not limited to)

Knowledge of / experience with Nuclear Hardness and Survivability

7 years directly related, progressive technical experience (5yrs with MS degree)

Strong understanding of nuclear physics

General understanding of the nuclear environment that the weapon system may be exposed to, whether natural or hostile

Understanding of the fundamental mechanisms of ionization effects

Understanding of Single-event effects (SEE) and Single-event upsets (SEU)

Work experience in construction leadership and construction management

Participate in management of Coatings Program staffing, including recruitment, supervision, scheduling, development, evaluation and disciplinary actions.

Manage the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, upgrade, and support of equipment and systems, including diving, inspection and construction equipment.

Assist in supporting the Nuclear Quality Assurance Program as directed by the Nuclear Quality Assurance Manager

Experience in nuclear safety related coatings.

Experience with writing proposals is highly desirable.

Bachelors degree and 3 years of experience or HS Diploma and six (6) years of experience

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Develop, review, update, and execute test plans/procedures.

Evaluate technical information received from the Fleet (Fleet messages, advisories, etc.).

Develop, review, update technical documentation.

Provide engineering support for design, repair, installation, modification, maintenance, and operation of systems.

Good time management skills and demonstrated capability to interface effectively with and gain the trust of station customers.

8-10+ years relevant work experience is considered necessary.

Working knowledge of codes, standards, and regulations that apply to mechanical engineering design of nuclear power plants

Knowledge and implementation of client Engineering Change Control process of nuclear power generation utilities is considered an asset.

Working knowledge of Nuclear Quality Assurance Standards.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Provide support of system engineering and process engineering management and quality assurance requirements for the RADIAC project.

0-5 years of relevant experience.

Related college work may be credited for years of experience.

Experience leading embedded software development on a Radiological Detection program.

Knowledge in the areas of mechanical and nuclear engineering.
