We are looking for an Engineering Manager to support our exciting Med Vee Marine product line at Caterpillar. You will have the opportunity to engage with some of the best and brightest engineers working on cutting edge technologies while leveraging our global supply networks to help them deliver to our customers. We will support you with our existing team of industry leading diesel engine development professionals to ensure you are comfortable, confident, and ready to meet the challenges you may encounter. You will be empowered to lead change and make an impact across our organization as you work toward introducing the next evolution of our marine product portfolio across the Med Vee and I6 marine product lines.
What you will do:
- This is a customer facing Engineering Manager role that interfaces with the Core Engine Platform team as well as Engine Development, Marine Product Definition, Manufacturing and our many dealers and customers worldwide.
- Lead market introduction of new marine products to market such as the C32B Commercial and the all new C13D marine engine.
- Provide insight and make decisions on our products and how they best serve our customers.
- Supervision and technical direction to a staff of hourly, salaried, and management personnel engaged in design, development or research activities related to LPSD Medium Vee Marine Engines (9.3-32L) with specific focus on C32 and C32B product maintenance, Design to Order and new product introduction (NPI) objectives.
What you must have:
- Bachelor’s degree Mechanical Engineering (or closely related) AND 10+ years of relevant experience.
- Analytical, problem solving, and project leadership skills.
- Well-developed interpersonal skills are required in dealing with sensitive issues and reaching consensus on specific actions.
- 2+ years of diesel engine design engineering experience.
- Capable of leading teams, suppliers, and customers to effective solutions.
Top candidates will also have:
- Experience as a engine component or engine platform level design or platform engineer.
- Experience managing a large research, development, and maintenance budget.
- Experience with Marine engines.
- Experience leading cross functional teams or large projects.
