Job Description
The Opportunity:
Consor is currently looking for an Engineer Diver in our Structural Assessment/Bridge Inspection business unit. As a dynamic and growing engineering consulting firm, Consor is full of opportunities for career development. If you don't want to be at a desk all day every day and apply your Engineering skill in the field, this could be for you. We are looking for a driven, independent person with a Civil Engineering EI (or PE preferred) and ADC Commercial Diving certification to advance their career in an expanding engineering company. Must be willing to work in the field, travel, and able to assume increasing responsibilities as the job requires.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Maintain bridge records and files.
  • Perform emergency inspections of bridges damaged by collision, floods, etc., as required.
  • Schedule bridge inspection crew work.
  • Perform inspections and report reviews in accordance with National Bridge Inspection Standards requirements, and determine maintenance or repair needs.
  • Review bridge inspection reports from inspection crews
Required Credentials:
  • Requires exposure to physical hazards, health and safety risks, and/or outdoor work in extreme weather conditions
  • Experience with computer-based report generation and review
  • Must be physically fit and able to lift and carry 70 lbs. and wear up to 90 lbs.
  • EI or EIT
  • Requires regular, overnight travel
  • ADC Commercial Diving certification
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
  • Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Requires heavy physical exertion and effort
  • Proficient technical writing skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Comfortable with the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Must be able to perform tasks while wearing appropriate safety gear (i.e. fall protection harness, head protection, respirator, etc.) Must be able to climb/walk up and down steep embankments, work within confined spaces, and climb overhead structure
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bridge inspection experience
  • Other training in scour, stream stability, load ratings or any similar areas, especially OSHA
  • Taken the FHWA 2-week bridge inspection course
  • PE LicenseSupplemental Information.
